Why not get a .tk web address and turn the .tk linker promo off so your visitors can enjoy your site without being constantly annoyed...
If they are hosting on CJB then you'll still get the dumb install program, does not matter if you front-end it with a .TK domain.
One of the major problems with some sites is that they try to do it on the cheap, using 'free' hosting - this is either from their ISP, and they exceed bandwidth allocations, or they use one with pop-up adverts or even these silly spyware programs that install without you knowing it.
The rule is to be careful where you put your website. If you have a 'fan' site then expect to get lots of hits, which makes places like Geocities pretty useless as they'll stop people visiting if you get more than 2.7841203 hits in a week (or something as low as that). I've been around some time (back to the days when email addresses ALL ended in .UUCP) and have tried loads of them.
If you ar looking to run a successful site then the only way to do this is via a proper domain name with a proper hosting package. Trying to do it on the cheap never works!
