Hi Everyone, I've been feeling sick today after reading the 'News Of The World' this morning.

Anyone else who read it will hopefully agree with me. There was this disgusting story about this poor dog who some scumbag had tied in a bag and left to die. A woman found it fighting to breathe and rushed it to a vet but the poor thing was too weak and had to be put out of its misery. The dog had been totally neglected too. The picture is horrific, absolutely shocking. The poor thing just looks so wretched.

I really hope they find the vermin who did this. How anyone could put an animal through what that little thing suffered is beyond me.

They deserve to rot.

Spacelad, I can't even bring myself to read the story, what you described was bad enough. I am with you, I cannot bear to hear about animals being neglected, dogs in particular, as we have always owned a dog in our family up until 2 years ago. People who do these sort of things should have severe penalties meted out to them. But then again, given the state of the entire justice systems in Britain, they will probably be given a ridiculous fine, if even that.

Since this story appeared earlier today our own dog has developed a serious problem, he's 14 and a half, been 'low' since a stroke a couple of years ago.
He's had reddish tinges in his urine on and off for six months. Vet say's it's his ages and that he's got bad kidneys - he's just been out for a pee and it was almost all blood, clots and all - a stomach churning feeling when you see it.
It makes me so angry that people can just dump a dog after mistreating it. Ours will be made comfortable and taken back to the vet in the morning...

As an animal lover and dog/cat/parrot owner I agree with Ruby I cant bring myself to read stories like this people that mistreat animals are IMO on a par with child abusers it sickens me!!!

I sympathise with you BB4 one of our dogs was ill a few weeks ago she could hardly stand up and was having trouble walking so we rushed her down to the vets with tears in our eyes convinced she was on her way out - calling the vet away from his home 20 miles away - only to be told she'd probably only sprained her back!!! She was fine in a day or so but the vet said it was a good job we'd called him out as she might have ahad a slipped disc and if we'd left it till morning she might never have walked again so wouldve had to have been put down!
The point is all of our animals are members of the family - (Im typing this with our macaw sitting on his perch playing boo round the door with me)...we call the vet for the slightest ailment and if it costs £45 a time for an out of hours callout so be it!

I'm sorry to hear about your dog BB4, it's so sad when they get ill.

I lost my beautiful Bilbo a few year ago, I'd had him for 16 wonderful years and he was my best friend. I miss him every day.

I can't bear animal cruelty and agree that people like the scum who murdered that poor dog ought to be given a proper sentence, not just a rap on the knuckles and a fine.

How dare anyone treat a living creature like that!

It's amazing that some animals, like your dog and my cat, are given so much love and respect, and then others, like that poor dog in yesterday's papers, are treated like that.

I would have done anything to have shown that little thing that not all people are like its "owner".

I really hate the idea of any animal dying like that, with no love. It's heartbreaking.

The reason I started this thread was just so that, in a small way, that little dog's life wasn't completely meaningless.

yeah BB4, sorry to hear about your doggie too. We had to get our dog, Pie, put down 2 years ago-it took my mum a week to pluck up the courage to phone me to tell me he had been put down as she knew how upset I would be. She was right-had to take the day off work because I couldn't see out of my eyes for crying so much. As Obo said, pets are like little members of your family. I really cannot even begin to understand the mentality of people who abuse/neglect an animal. To me, they should not even be called people/person/human.

Today a new born baby was found in a bin bag dead.

According to teletext it was found outside a dump.

People are becoming more heartless and cruel and things are not getting any better.

Animals, Babes, old age pensioners and children are targets for all the sick basxxxd's out there.

Its a sad sad world now.

As for people who mistreat animals, I would gladly perforem that old Angel tourture out on them.

(you slice their back open, and pull the lungs out of the back, the victim is still alive so the lungs continue to inflate, giving the impression of wings)

I hear it is a very painful and slow way to go....sounds perfect.

i know it's terrible,my dog Kylie was find in a bin bag with her siter and they had left them in a river ,but thankfully someone find them and took them to the rspca. now she is 16 and going on strong.

sorry to hear about your dog bb4, we had 1 scare with kylie it was when blood started coming out of her mouth,it was very scary,but all it was,was her gums bleeding ,but it was an awful lot of blood.
