Its because youth of today carry knife's etc - as a protection for them selves THEY SAY....

If this and the gun problem we have here now is not dealt with hard and fast then it will get out of control - as the drug situation is...

Its easy to say these things - get it sorted, but there just is not enought police to go around...

The population in Britain is huge but the police force does not equal it ...

Basically I think peoples respect and decency for others and others lives has gone. "Everyone" is just out there for them selves - which is not the way to survive - as the Human Race...

we seem to be getting more and more like america in the terms of gang crime and violence, plus with the increase in gun crime.
Certianly crimes like this have happened throughout time, the media just reports these things with more gusto in todays society to try and underline this "breakdown of morality".

Its really sad, where I used to live, a 12 year old girl stabbed another girl after she said she had dropped a pound and asked the other girl to pick it up. They later found out that she had also been reponsible for killing a girl outside the local nightclub, WHEN SHE WAS 11. She was put in a mental institute for the criminally insane because of her fascination with killing - even as such a young girl, and now she is in her 20's, wants to come out. It a horrible world out there now, bullying has reached another extreme. On Monday, one of our students was beaten so badly he was blacking out and vomiting, and he is too scared to say which students did it.

It makes me wonder wether this boy who stabbed the other boy, was a bully or maybe a victim of bullying which may have drove him to do it. No excuse I know but I just wonder. Loads of kids commit suicide due to bullying, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were driven to murder too.

Why in my eyes ;

1) you have bad people who have evil intent within them - without anyone influancing them at all.....These people need help as soon as this "badness" surfaces...Not the attuude lets leave them to stuggle and perhaps others will take care of them, as it is now adays...

2) Certain people are easily influanced and will because of their up bringing will follow the "wrong doers" as they "feel" more loved by these people than their own family...These type of people cause a vicious circle..

3) Peolpe are ruled by jealousy - cannot take others having ( working hard to get - in some cases ) things, so with no regards to anything will take which is not theirs - because they want it....Money or the lack of it is the main problem here.

4) way back when - the circle of people you would not dare cross was much more wider than todays family circle - So there fore less people to have your true respect....

5) Because of children having "to look after them selves" ( due to parents working ) from a age when they most need guildence, these children can "run" with the bad ones. ( see 2 )

**
I by no means mean that all children will turn out bad if they are from any of my ideas above....These are just some reasons of why I think the human race is on a downward slope...

Many psychologists are trying to work that out - why do people react differently to different things? They do believe that a lot of things happen for a reason, but you can bet your life that the boy who did it will show no remorse, they work themsleves up into such a frenzy that they seriously believe what they do is right.

I am trying to get a job working in forensic psychology, and that is what they are trying to find out. There is not the same answer for everyone. They believe that people who rape have serious sexual problems and do it to prove a point. I am reading a fantastic book by a gentleman called James Britton (The Jigsaw Man), it basically leads you into the minds of the criminally insane and explains why they do it.

I work with kids all ages and a lot of teenagers - those I work with have been brought to the school by parents that are interested in their kids want them to have a past time and avoid hanging on the streets - the majority of them are good kids just like other generations but you get the odd bad penny they seem to have nice parents and everything going for them but they just seem to have that bad streak

I have two seven year olds in a class at the moment sweet looking blond blue eyed angels and yet other children and mothers have reported they are bullying fellow class mates when I tackled them about it just shrugged their shoulders and said well..... so they have had to leave - is beyond me what causes this though

I think the thing that worries me the most in society is the way kids are left to their own devices! They sit in front a screen all day, either a tv or a computer or a games consol. Seems to me that too many parents are taking the easy way out with bringing up kids these days and that's VERY worrying. IMO kids need rules and limits to learn.

*gets down off of soapbox and hands it back to Jim*
