I understand that this weeks Bella magazine features an article on Penny called "Fame? You can keep it". I haven't actually read it myself yet, but if you like Penny, it may be worth a read.

In Bella magazine, Penny says that the night she stepped out of the Big Brother house, the first thing her friend said to her was: "Don't believe what the papers say. Your job is safe." She knew then that everything had changed and she was going to have to pay a price for her shot at fame.

The headmistress asked her to resign and, not wanting to face the governors and parents, she agreed. Even though she left on good terms, she was really upset. She sat down and had a big cry - She'd blown her 10-year career. There was no going back.

A celebrity magazine paid her thousands of pounds to do an eight-page exclusive shoot. Because of her years of acting experience, she decided to get a CV together and contacted casting agents. She said she would have liked to have had a man to support her, but fame made that difficult. She was so busy flitting from one audition to another that it was difficult for men to keep up with what she called a 'feather boa' lifestyle and this has resulted in her becoming very demanding and if she meets someone, she needs to know they want to be with her as much as she wants to be with them.

Last summer she dated 'Nasty' Nick from the first Big Brother, but soon realised he just wanted them to be 'spotted' together. He's happy to be still dining out on his Big Brother fame, but she wants to go on to bigger and better things.

Penny has her own radio show on Liberty FM, has done countless auditions, lots of work for charity and appeared in pantomime.

Fame cost her, her teaching career, but she's determined to make it worthwhile. If it means sacrificing a relationship then so be it.

Her main regret is that she wishes she'd considered more carefully the effect Big Brother would have on her teaching career, but says that it was worth it in some ways, because it has given her more breaks than years of acting experience ever did - and has cleared some debts and helped her mum financially.

Awww. I always liked Penny and worried when I saw her with Nick. I'm glad she sussed him out before she got too involved. She's really determined to make a go out of her opportunities, but isn't taking anything for granted.

Poor men though. It might be better if she tried going out with them a few times before demanding to know their intentions.
