BIG Brother celebrity and DJ Kate Lawler will be treading the boards at her old school in a charity cabaret performance.

Miss Lawler, 28, will join a host of former and current students for the Pink Cabaret evening, in aid of Cancer Research, at Langley Park School for Girls in Hawsbrook Lane, Beckenham next Saturday.

"The night is being coordinated by Miss Lawler's former drama teacher and friend, Bridge Doherty, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
The reality TV star said: "I will be doing a Victoria Wood sketch. It will be a bit embarrassing but I'm looking forward to it and it's for a good cause. I wanted to do it because my grandma has breast cancer and because of Bridge as well. We were very close at school. She is not a normal teacher, she is like a friend as well. Lots of students stay in touch with her after they leave.
"I used to love drama. We all did. Bridge is amazing, she has turned drama around at the school. She's an inspiration, such a lovely, strong person.
"I'm looking forward to going back. I have been back a few times but not lately because I'm living in Birmingham doing my Kerrang radio show. But Langley Park is the best school in the world." "

I've often wondered what gave Kate her inner drive and confidence to try things.As wonderful as Karen is she's content to be ordinary.(Can I say that?)Perhaps this teacher was a trigger-sort of Miss Brodie type.As it happens I've often thought Kate was the ideal person to do Xmas panto for her love of theatre and acting but she's never done it because of the reputation thing.I don't know much about the school it's on the same estate as her london flat and has a wonderful location-even smokers corner is pleasant.

Certainly sounds like a lovely event & a great cause - & Kate obviously has great affection for her drama teacher.
The one picture of Kate at school that appeared during BB3 was her turn in the production of Cabaret.

The only thing I'd say about Kate since BB3 is the irony that she lacks confidence regarding the arts.
Kate is very quick-witted but sometimes lacks confidence - she is a brilliant mimic & satirist of people.
Iain Lee doesn't like 'impressions' for impression's sake - & neither do I - satire is the only important thing.

Piers Morgan couldn't believe Kate had the guts to go up to Edinburgh & perform her Victoria Wood sketch for his 'journalistic' expose, 'Death of a Celebrity', which turned out to be a stint in stand-up comedy for Kate.
Can't stand fame-hungry Morgan, but he did complement Kate for doing this, ridiculing Paul Danan & the like for their desperation in appearing on the dreadful, er, Love Island & other terrible 'reality' shows.

But then, what does Kate do? Appear on Love Island.
A dreadful decision, not only because she was attacked by the whole production team, including the presenters - but she was also ridiculed by the DJ press.
Thank god Kate's worked hard to get respect on the House DJ scene since.

Kate could act if she wanted to - in gritty London-based drama - but I don't think she has the confidence to do so.
