Wow, you are lucky getting to see Helen and Paul! Closest I've got is being driven along the road where Paul's family live, and where Paul and Helen lived together for a while! I had my nose pressed to the car window, just in case they happened to be walking in the area at the time!!

I got the train through Reading last Autumn and had my nose pressed against the window the whole way through the station.

If I did see them, I don't know if I'd have the guts to say hello. If it was in a situation where I could start a normal(ish) conversation I might. I know what you mean about intruding. If they are out and about in public they'll probaby be alright about it, so long as they aren't in a rush or something. You'll just have to use your judgement if you get the opportunity.
