Well, realistically it was Tim Shaw who was giving the gig, then Kate came to assist. So as soon as he went, it was over, really. I wouldn't expect this interim stage to last more then a week. After all it would seem a little disloyal for her to carry on anyway.
I still would be intrigued to know exactly what he did
Shame, but London is a better place for her to live for the club dJing. Now she can make the most of Ibiza and whatnot.
Rince, you make some great comments - as ever with Kate, things might be complicated.
First of all, it's pretty disgraceful that Kerrang!Radio on their messageboard in the 'General' section say Kate has moved to 'Drivetime' for an
'interim' period when she's just presented 'The Morning After' on her own for three weeks, brilliantly in my opinion.
On Kate's latest myspace blog posted during all this furore, she said she is completely knackered balancing her radio job in Birmingham with maintaining her career as a seriously considered House DJ - not to mention the fact that she's in bits about her nan & close soul-mate Reeny fighting cancer.
And God knows what Kate thought about Tim Shaw, a rebel & cynic, yes, but often Kate's biggest promoter.
It's difficult to know what's happening at this time, & what will happen - because there will be fall out.
The Kerrang!Radio messageboard is strictly edited & monitored(but still full of sh*t at times especially regarding Kate on 'The Morning After') but some comments supporting Tim Shaw are left - & let's face it, he is the only serious & talented 'personality', no matter what his faults are. Rock music is subjective; rock fans dip in to hear whatever is being played - pretentious twits who pontificate endlessly about rock music being something important make me laugh - which is another reason why Tim Shaw is an interloper - he is a 'personality' DJ - the fact that he had to play 'rock' music is immaterial to him.
Tim Shaw's a cynic who knows radio inside out; who knows how fake it all is.
That is refeshing at times but also uncomfortable - as his bosses no doubt thought.
Kerrang!Radio say Tim Shaw abused the trust of listeners for one competition - I don't know.
As for Kate, we'll see what happens on the Drivetime show.
Funny enough, during the last week of Kate's 'Morning After', Kate mentioned the fact that her boss Gordon Davidson took her out for birthday dinner & she also said she used the same gym as him - even saying on friday that an employee in the gym gave her Gordon's wedding ring/other rings because he had left them there.
We don't know what Kate's future at Kerrang!Radio is, what the bosses think of her presenting or what her loyalties are; things need to settle down.
We don't know what Kate truly thought of Tim Shaw, because he could be rude, intrusive & immature towards her with his mickey-taking at times - though obviously obsessed.
We don't know about Tim Shaw's future. The funny irony is on the day Kerrang!Radio announced his contract had been terminated Tim Shaw was on a repeat of 'Balls of Steel' last night being totally outrageous!
I don't know what is his relationship with Kate will be now, but I do know he's quite nerveless at times & does have immense talent.
If this all means he & Kate will fall out because she can't afford to burn any bridges with her bosses then so be it - but Kate will never work with someone who could be so original & talented again.
That's not to say that Tim Shaw knew it all about comedy because he didn't - his comedy was hit & miss, his 'set-ups' were too obvious at times - but unlike some others like Iain Lee he could be an absolute genius.
