Just got Kate's 'money shot' comment' on Kerrang!Radio from buying a copy of DJ Magazine on lunch.

Absolutely amazing if you ask me. Even though I bleat on & on about mixmag, incessantly, Kate's review for her EP in DJ Magazine is probably her greatest achievement so far since her massive victory over sad morons in BB3.
Jade's 'performance' on John Noel's CBB5 reminded us all how dreadful she was on BB3. Not that I & other intelligent peeps needed reminding, of course.
While Jade gets mass re-promotion aimed at morons too stupid to think for themselves(mention of racist limericks not allowed, especially from anybody formally a client at John Noel Management or any BB housemates who creeped around Jade & her 'fame'), & others that exploit z-list promotion, Kate gets the best possible review of her Dance EP.
I couldn't care less if it was only a few words - it still got pride of place with a commissioned picture from Kate's Myspace.

The 'money shot' means recommended listening of course as suggested by DJ Magazine.
What's brilliant, apart from the fact that all tracks are praised & DJ Magazine saying the EP is the best issue from Toolroom Records this year, is the fact that Kate's name only appears as the artist(thanks to Parky from the Happy Mondays for producing), & Kate Lawler & other associated nonsense from BB is not mentioned - just the quality of the EP.

Brilliant.

New Gatecrasher Superclub opening in Broad Street, Birmingham, this month.
Heard they've been promising the world's top DJs for their opening night - & wondered if Kate was going to be there, being a Kerrang! Radio DJ in the city.

Yep, Kate's playing a set on opening night - Thursday, September 18.
Hope all the Dance magazines are going to be there.

Just following on from the fact that Kate was clearly ecstatic at the chance to DJ on Amnesia Terrace for Cream in Ibiza a few weeks ago - Kate is a main DJ at the Q Club in Birmingham tonight - another major coup for her.
All fantastic for her DJ portfolio.

Kate had a choice a few years ago - become a 'celebrity' DJ like others in the media who claim to DJ & hope to get their picture in The Daily Star, ie they play a few commercial tracks at corporate events in London, nightclub openings wanting to attract celebrities, etc. - or, work hard to achieve respect as seriously considered House DJ.
Kate has rarely DJ-ed at corporate events & nightclub openings even though she has had many opportunities.
In the main, Kate chose the more difficult & less lucrative option. IE establish herself as a credible House DJ up there with the best.
This meant getting in her car & driving to venues up & down England, & when she was banned from driving, insuring her friends to drive her. When it was too far to drive, Kate flew to the venues. All this effort didn't make Kate much money but the important thing was Kate was going to achieve respect on the dance scene.

Kate has put her hearth and soul into her new career and it has paid off.

Kate mentioned on Kerrang! Radio last week that she will be DJ-ing in Dubai on New Year's Eve.

According to Kate's Myspace, the Nile City Towers gig, Egypt, has been moved from January to February 2009. This will be a few days after her return to Lithuania.
Kate did suggest a break from Kerrang! Radio early next year in an interview before her Leicester gig some time ago - things may have changed.
Maybe Kate wants to take a few weeks off at some point early next year to concentrate on gigs abroad.

Quite funny on Drivetime last night. OJ Borg managed to wangle a support slot at a Kate Lawler gig that night. The gig sounded impromtu because it is not scheduled on Kate's Myspace diary.

Don't know what is true & what isn't? - but OJ Borg was drunk after a few glasses of wine - even embarrassing himself with a bit of hero-worship with fellow Leicester 'hero' Gary Lineker! who happened to be there.
Not to mention a drunken OJ Borg's attempts to get into his London flat.
All witnessed by Neil, Drivetime's producer, apparently!

I think she does lots of gigs around this time of the year, that doesn't get put on her site.

Probably earns more money for these private gigs, TBH.

I dunno about that comment she made about taking a break, it was a bit vague and maybe a red-herring...

Yeah, but the important thing is Kate didn't go the corporate route in a vain attempt to make money - as she could have done.

I see Anthony Hutton, the BB6 winner, Ziggy & Liam, the two losing housemates from BB8, plus the twins from BB8 are all promoting themselves as 'DJs' in the UK?, doing their 'cheesy' stuff, as Anthony Hutton would say - but none of them will be on the bill in true dance clubs like Kate Lawler, or on the bill with DJs the dance magazines laud, as Kate Lawler is.

Despite Kate's promotion on Toolroom records & by DJ Mark Knight, it's not all a bed of roses for Kate. Kate has been denied opportunities in so-called credible dance clubs merely because she (initially)emerged from Big Brother & has to play the mainstream z-list card at times.
Personally, I don't think she needs to, & has consistently proven the fact that she didn't take the 'celebrity' DJ route, as the likes of Anthony, Ziggy, Liam & the twins will do.

Mikey from BB7 is seriously into his DJing but has sold his wedding to a seleb mag. As Iain Lee told Kate on RI:SE, that is one thing you should never do.
