MIDLAND rock station Kerrang! is set to dump its name – because it may be turning listeners off.
The Birmingham-based station wants to broaden its appeal, but bosses fear only heavy metal fans will tune in to the current name.
Since it was launched four years ago, the station has introduced high-profile DJs, including
Big Brother winner Kate Lawler – one of the Sunday Mercury’s bloggers – and former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable.
Latest figures show it has 360,000 listeners, and the station has landed four Sony gold awards in its short history.
