Sounds good. See news section of site for more information. I really hope that this gets released, because I think it could sell well. I think I would probably buy it.

Perfect combination - Bubble and Dean writing the song, and Ant and Dec singing it!! (That was reported in the Mirror, I believe!)
whoever sings it, I'd imagine it will do well, especially if England manage to get past the first round!

I think Ant and Dec would be writing it if they are singing it. They were always writing stupid songs for smtv, which were often as good as, or better than you're average football tune. I don't want to be disloyal, but I think they'd do a much better job too.

I have just extracted this from the news section of the site in case you missed it, because Nicki very kindly put 3 news items up at once - Thanks Nicki!

Dean from Big Brother travelled to the football association last week to deliver a copy of the tune he hoped would be chosen as England's official World cup song. Unfortunately for Dean, it has since been revealed that TV duo Ant and Dec are set to write and record the anthem.
Dean wrote Standing Tall with fellow Brummie songwriter Micky Greaney and performed it with fellow housemate, Bubble.
"We had a meeting with the FA and we gave them the first demo" explained Dean. "We'll be recording a new version of it which we we'll also give to them. It's a good song. That's the trick. It would be easy for it to be gimmicky. This is a very indie pop sounding song with a singalong feel and there's a nice story in the lyrics."
Other candidates for recording the track included Swedish band, the Cardigans, or the Liverpool based girl band, Atomic Kitten. Dean hasn't heard what the Kittens are up to, but is dismissive of the prospective choice of the Cardigans on the grounds that they come from the same country as England's manager, Sven Goran Eriksson: "Can you believe it? At least we're English and we like football!"
The reporter pointed out to Dean that England's official World cup songs tend to become quite forgettable. Although everyone remembers Three Lions, can anyone remember the name of the track that the Spice Girls and Echo & the Bunnymen came up with?! Or Mick Hucknall's effort for 1996? Exactly. A sudden realisation dawns on Dean about official England songs. "It's the kiss of death isn't it?! Right, they're not having it. They can have the bloody Cardigans instead!"

Adapted from an article in Wolverhampton's Express and Star - 12th February, 2002.

Ooh, I do hope their record will get released. I think it sounds good.

Dean and Bubble have been on a tour of the football stadiums across the UK to hand out copies of their World Cup song. They are hoping that Standing Tall will become a terrace anthem when it is released in May. It will be played at half-time at several football grounds in the run up to the World Cup and has been said to have a similar feel to Baddiel and Skinner's hit Three Lions with the lyrics "consider yourself, knocked out" similar to Consider Youself from the musical Oliver. Bubble said that he can imagine England football fans singing it on the terraces.

I'm sure the reason Baddiel and Skinner's song was so popular was because the truly love football! They weren't just pop stars trying to make a quick buck!

We all know that the same can be said for Dean and Bubble so I hope they do really well with their song. And considering I have to go out and buy Gareth Gates song for my son, I think I can manage to fit theirs in too! :D

I have just had an email from Phony to say that their new single will be put on hold now that Dean and Bubble's song is being released late April or early May.

They are going to shoot a video for "Standing Tall" next Thursday/Friday - and are looking for extras! So if you own, can scrounge, steal, borrow or make an England footie shirt you're in with a chance of being in it! As yet location isn't settled but its likely to be in the West Midlands or around Manchester. There will be lotsa hanging around doing nothing for long periods of time followed by a frantic few minutes where their crowd of English Footie Fan Extras will be required to sing along to a backing track - if you're interested and can be free on either day, please let them know at info@phonymusic.com.

They are also looking for an England "Striker" or "Subuteo" Set. If you own one of these, then please email them about that also.
