Ex-Royal butler Paul Burrell charming, villagers report

The picturesque surroundings of Lavenham must have seemed like heaven on earth for former royal butler Paul Burrell, following his stint in the Australian jungle.

The man, who Princess Diana once called her "rock", spent a week in the medieval wool town filming part of a new reality television series entitled Australian Princesses.

The programme promises to transform Aussie girls into ladies fit for a title.

Mr Burrell, a former I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here TV show contestant, who stayed in the village's Swan Hotel, received nothing but praise from residents.

Alison Wheadon, manager of Lavenham Newsagents, said: "He was wandering around the village and came into the shop for a look around.
"He was a very nice and friendly guy. We had some general polite chit-chat, and he bought a roll of Sellotape."

Dinah Scott, of Timbers antiques shop, said: "He came into the shop quite a few times.
"He was very nice and very charming, completely unpretentious.
"I think he was in and around the village for about a week.
"He bought quite a few items from the shop, and even bought all the staff chocolates because he said we had been so helpful to him while he was here."
