Quote:
TV bosses early today feared Brian Harvey would QUIT I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! after his beloved gran died.

Betty Nabb, 70 — who became a surrogate mum and brought the singer up — passed away at home in East London as Brian, 30, flew to Australia to join the ITV show.

Producers broke the news to the ex-East 17 star when he arrived.

Friends feared Brian — due to start the jungle show on Sunday — would be too devastated to go on.

BRIAN Harvey’s girlfriend Emma B said last night the death of his gran was the “most devastating thing that could have happened”.

Betty Nabb, 70 — who brought Brian up — died as the ex-East 17 star flew to Australia.

The news was broken to him after he landed.

Model Emma, 27, said: “He was very, very close to his nan. It’s even more awful because I’m A Celebrity was supposed to be a new start for him and she was really excited for him.”

Emma revealed Brian’s family has urged him to continue in her memory.

The 30-year-old has been told he must make his decision this afternoon.

DJ Toby Anstis, 35, will replace Brian if he drops out.

'Queen to watch'

SHAMED royal butler Paul Burrell is certain the Queen will watch his jungle antics — despite falling out with Prince Philip over whether they should tune in to the show.

The Sun told how the couple are feuding over the ITV1 reality hit.

But Burrell, 46, who sickened people with his tell-all book on his former boss Princess Di, said: “I’m sure the Queen will get her own way — she usually does at most things.”

STUNNER Sophie Anderton, 27, will sport a bikini — especially for Sun readers. She said: “I’ve got four and I have a red one just for you guys.”

I don't know who Harvey is, but it seems that what's been asked of him is almost impossible. If he does continue with the show, in his gran's memory, that would be remarkable.

How harsh and cruel is the music business, if appearing on I'm a Celebrity is possibly the only chance for a fresh start?

I hope he makes the decision that's right for him.

I agree GG I don't know him either but it is a bit much to expect him to go on something like this so close to the loss of his grandmother :-?

Harvey to stay in jungle TV show

Brian Harvey is 7/1 to win the ITV1 programme
Former pop star Brian Harvey is to remain in Australia for ITV1's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, despite the death of his grandmother.
Betty Nabb - who raised the former East 17 singer - died aged 70 as he flew to the show's base near Brisbane.

The 30-year-old said he had been given the option to leave the series, but had decided to stick with the programme.

"My nan was really excited about me coming to do the show," he said in a statement. The series begins on Sunday.

"I really think that both her and my grandad wouldn't have wanted me to miss out on this amazing opportunity and experience," he added.

Harvey said he was not looking for the "sympathy vote" by remaining on the series, which follows 10 celebrities in a jungle as they attempt to carry out various tasks, with one eventually being chosen as a winner by viewers.

An ITV spokesman said: "Brian a given a great deal of thought about whether or not he should take part in the programme. If he decides this was the wrong choice, he can obviously leave at any time."

Post subject:  TROUBLED Brian Harvey...

TROUBLED Brian Harvey will join the celebrities in the jungle today amid fears the death of his nan could push him over the edge.

The former East 17 star has serious mental problems and has relied on anti-depressants since he threatened suicide in April.

There are also fears Natalie Appleton could also crack up on the show.

Brian, 30, was devastated to be told moments after he arrived in Oz on Friday morning that his 70-year-old nan Betty Nabb had died.

But yesterday he declared he wanted to carry on with the show and will be flown by helicopter to the camp in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, today to join models Sophie Anderton, 27, Nancy Sorrell, 30, singer Natalie Appleton, 31, ex-butler Paul Burrell, 46, nightclub boss Fran Cosgrave, 27, journalist Janet Street-Porter, 57, comic Joe Pasquale, 43, Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson, 56 and Huggy Bear actor Antonio Fargas, 58.
