Sophie Tells Of Love for New Fella
Model Sophie Anderton has tearfully revealed her love for boyfriend Mark Alexiou.

The 27-year-old I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant fought back the tears as she confided to Nat Appleton and Nancy Sorrell in the jungle.

Sophie, a recovering drug addict and alcoholic said nightclub owner Alexiou is "the best thing that has ever happened to me".

During a girlie chat she said: "I was always in love with him. I was just nursing my feelings.

"I just didn't know I was in love with him until I gave up alcohol. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me."

However, Alexiou was less than complimentary about his missus last week.

He described her as "not the sharpest tool ion the box" before she jetted off Down Under.

Sophie, who previously had a fiery relationship with football badboy Mark Bosnich, also said how she hit her low when she was on the booze.

"I didn't even speak to my mum for weeks. I was in a rut," added the former Gossard model.

Celebrities grumble over Anderton after bush feed


Sophie Anderton came in for some bitchy comments from her fellow jungle-mates after completing the latest Bushtucker trial.

Model Sophie could not wait to tell the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Contestants about the unappetising mission of being forced to down a variety of bugs.
“I was nearly actually sick when I ate the witchety grub,” she told her captive audience. “Natalie was meant to eat the fish eye and the witchety grub but she passed it to me.”


The celebs nearly knocked each other over as they queued up to get in the Bush Telegraph to air their feelings about her.

“Sophie is very much still about Sophie,” Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson said. “She likes attention and when she gets attention she is happy and when she is not getting attention she is not happy.”


Mouthy journalist Janet Street-Porter fumed: “Sophie was on a big ego trip afterwards that she still has not come down from because she keeps telling everyone about it over and over again and obviously it is very exciting for her.

“It is this extraordinary need for affirmation, it’s extraordinary.”

Huggy Bear also had harsh words for self-centred Sophie, he said: “She has wanted to do a trial that everyone else had done. She chit chats about every trial and how she could do it and how she has done this and that ad infinitum.”

Do any of you think if Sophie was as ugly as Natalie the [3 who should know better] older jungle whingers would be more understanding of her obvious need for admiration from her fellow jungle mates?

I don't think Natalie is ugly.. I think Sophie has the misfortune to have her lovely face let down a bit by a 'sour' look around her mouth..

But that article in the People - God help us all. I can't say I read every word of it - but two things struck me.

(1) Anyone who says 'when she saw 2 of my £100 Hermes ties.... should be avoided - but would he really have said that? How much of that stuff was really said by him, anyway?

(2) Why is is entitled lesbian shame? Would it all have been o.k. if there hadn't been a 'lesbian slant' to this 'story'? It's no wonder that some morons think that picking on gay people is as much a sport as football hooliganism, or terrorising old folks.

I am able to answer my own question - it's entitled lesbian shame, because some sub-sub-editor (or something like that) knew that using the word 'lesbian' would get some of their readership dead excited - some of the very people who would be homophobic are gasping for a bit of 'girl-on-girl action'.

I'M A Celebrity star Sophie Anderton last night told how she beat her drug and booze demons in the jungle.

She said: "I might not have won the show but I've won my own battle."

The stunning 27-year-old supermodel is overwhelmed that she managed to last 13 days in the Australian bush.

A year ago she would fly into temper rages after snorting lines of cocaine and chasing them down with vodka and Valium.

But today she feels like a new person and is proud of the way she kept her cool during her darkest hours in the jungle.

She squealed: "Yes. Yes. Yes. I've done it. I'm so proud that I've shown everyone I've finally beaten my drug addiction.

"I feel liberated and I've never felt happier."

Sophie looks fit, healthy and beautiful - a far cry from the star I helped battle her drug addiction last year.

But Sophie said of her experience: "This was a lot harder than going off drugs and drink.

"I just wanted to get out of there. I was worried something was going to bite, worried where to put my feet and going barking insane."

She was voted off the ITV show, leaving Fran Cosgrave, Joe Pasquale, Janet Street-Porter and Paul Burrell to fight it out.

And she told me earlier: "I'd never have imagined I'd have survived the vile grub and the venomous snakes with a bunch of strangers, without turning to cocaine.

"I'd also probably have needed at least one bottle of vodka a day to get through jungle life this time last year."

And last night she paid tribute to her fellow contestants. "I've left just four people in there - all like family. Joe is the quiet one. Janet's the bossy mother type. I love her to pieces. Paul was my Peter Pan and Fran was like a brother.

"They're all great people and I wish they could all come back winning it. I'm proud of them all."

She added: "In the beginning Janet and I were sizing each other up. I was an annoying factor. She said to me: 'Be more of a human being, Sophie, and not so conscious of the cameras'.

"I learnt an incredible amount from her - she's an incredible woman.""

Yesterday, as she tucked into her first hearty meal for nearly a fortnight, celebrity stylist Aidee Phelan chopped off her long locks for a new drastic look - to symbolise her new-found liberation.

At the height of her addiction, Sophie wasted away to six stone. Reaching the depths of despair, she revealed to the Sunday Mirror last year how she had even been lured into becoming a vice girl.

Yesterday the former Gossard bra model was reunited with her nightclub-owner boyfriend, Mark Alexiou, who had fought hard to help her kick her cocaine habit.

The lovers were whisked off to their plush hotel, where Alexiou presented her with a dragonfly-shaped pendant and £30,000 platinum necklace encrusted with diamonds.

Sophie said: "Mark and me are inseparable and are always making love when we are at home. Going without sex for two weeks was a big test for me. Mark has been my rock."
