AXED STAR ELAINE TO JOIN I'M A CELEBRITY
FORMER troubled EastEnder Elaine Lordan has been signed up for the new series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
Elaine, 36, who played Lynne Hobbs in the BBC soap, flies out to Australia next month to compete in the ITV reality show.
A source revealed: "The ITV bosses were delighted when Elaine signed on the dotted line.
"They'd been in talks for months, but a deal has now been reached.
"It's a great coup for the show and it's sure to guarantee this series goes with a bang."
Elaine was kicked off EastEnders last year after rows about her boozing.
Her two-week stint in the jungle will be her first job since she left Albert Square in July 2004.
Elaine will be joined in the jungle by former co-star Sid Owen, 33, who was axed as drippy mechanic Ricky Butcher in 2003.
They will spend two weeks camping in the Australian rainforest with wine buff Jilly Goulden, 70s pop star Jimmy Osmond, TV babe Sara Cox and glamour model Jodie Marsh, in what is being billed as the toughest series yet.
An insider revealed: "This is not going to be a holiday camp.
"The theme bosses are working around is 'bigger, better, harder, harsher'.
"They are keen to hit the celebrities with the worst challenges they can come up with. Viewers can expect to see the stars squirm and really suffer for their supper."
The fifth series of the hit show kicks off on ITV at the end of November.
Hosts Ant & Dec will jet off to Australia later this week to begin preparing for the launch.
The duo, both 30, were named Most Popular Entertainment presenters for the fifth year running at last week's National TV awards.
They will be joined Down Under by ITV2 presenters Tara Palmer Tomkinson and her new co-host Matt Brown.
