SLEEP OFF THE YEARS
Makeover Queen Linda Barker knows all too well the importance of getting a good night's sleep
BEAUTY sleep is the secret behind Linda Barker's youthful looks and good health
The 44-year-old TV makeover queen admits she's never really struggled to nod off, even when she was in the depths of the Australian rainforest as a contestant on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
Linda recalled: "We had to sleep on a hard camp bed out in the jungle with all the bugs and beasties.
"I'm lucky as I've always slept well, so when my head hits the pillow I just switch off. I rely on at least eight hours a night to function well. It's so important for your mental and physical well-being."
And she's determined to make the most of a precious extra hour's sleep when the clocks go back on Sunday.
She said: "If I'm working flat out and miss out on sleep then I think it's really important to catch up at the weekend.
"As it gets colder in the winter, I find myself wanting to sleep more and more."
And like Linda, the chance of a bonus kip is sorely needed for the rest of us.
The pace of 21st century life has left one in four Scots suffering from a chronic lack of sleep.
Today Linda has plenty of advice for the brave stars who have signed up for the next I'm a Celebrity... Bargain Hunt host David Dickinson, basketball legend Dennis Rodman and actress Lisa Faulkner are all set to jet out to Oz at the end of November.
She said: "Don't be scared, it really isn't as bad as you think it's going to be.
"The Australian jungle is quite a gruesome place, but it's beautiful too.
"It was a fantastic 15 days full of laughter and good conversations around the campfire.
"I have to say though that getting back to my own bedroom to sleep was total bliss."
