HUNGRY OUTBACK S STARS IN WALK-OUT THREAT

Celebrity spirits at rock-bottom as downpours lash the camp

THE moaning celebrities were close to mutiny yesterday - with more than half threatening to quit their dismal jungle lair.

As the rain thundered down in the Australian rainforest, the squalid conditions were becoming unbearable for many.

But the starving campers kept themselves busy with a stream of gripes and groans.

And some were on the verge of walking off the show before the first live eviction tomorrow.

Jimmy Osmond, 42, was close to collapse and has been given special drinks to boost his energy levels.

Antiques expert David Dickinson, 64, was also suffering from the lack of food.

He said: "I feel weak.

I feel as though I have to eat something otherwise I'm going to fall down."

Ex-Atomic Kitten singer Jenny Frost said: "I'm going out of my mind.

"I hate the smell of the camp - it's all dirty, wet washing. I can't speak. My vocabulary's gone - the jungle's done it."

Wine expert Jilly Goolden panicked when she realised her thoughts were muddled, saying: "My brain's gone."

Carol Thatcher and pop star Antony Costa returned to the camp exhausted and upset, clutching the day's Celebrity Chest, after the hellish morning.

Antony said: "This is a joke."

Jungle newcomer comedian Bobby Ball said: "I've moments where I've been thinking I can't do this"Why did I sign up for this?" Ex-Neighbours soap star Kimberley Davies, 32, has informed the camp her time is up at the end of the week.

Jilly asked: "You're going to walk?"

She replied: "The way I feel now, yep."

Tommy Cannon was voted camp leader yesterday.

Bobby Ball is his deputy, which means he'll get three nights in the penthouse, which is sure to cause more grumbles in the jungle.

Jenny Frost called Bobby Ball a "bossy bum" and David Dickinson seems upset with the I'm A Celebrity arrivals.

He said: "We were all laid-back in here. You've come and stirred it all up."

As leader, Tommy introduced new jungle laws, which included the celebs hugging and sayingtheyloveoneanotherbeforebed. But the move to improve camp life may be futile as the comedy duo revealed the secret of the jungle jail - reserved as punishment for the celebs later in the show.

The stars have so far scoffed at the threats of punishment from ITV bosses.

David ridiculed: "What are they going to do - take two grains of rice away?"

Carol added: "Yes, or say we can only have rice or beans one night?"

But producer Richard Cowles warned: "They'll spend most of the night in darkness in the jail.

"Without the comfort of a fire, they'll be cold, tired and alone in a bamboo prison cell, with snakes, rats and potentially deadly spiders for company
