TEAM THATCHER Last year's stars tell her how to win Carol's survival tips from SAS hero CUNNING Carol Thatcher set up a kitchen cabinet of former I'm A Celeb contestants and an SAS hero to plot her campaign to be Queen of the Jungle. With a ruthless eye for detail worthy of her mother, Carol, dubbed Iron Lady 2, asked SAS veteran Andy McNabb for survival tips before going into the camp. She also had summits with Janet Street Porter and former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond - both contestants on last year's show. Janet said: "Carol called me up and wanted as much advice as I could give her. I admired her straight away for asking. She's very direct, just like her mum." Janet's advice was: -KEEP quiet in the first week and let the other contestants make fools of themselve -ALWAYS do well in the Bushtucker Trials -REVEAL details of your unhappy childhood and difficult relationship with your parents in the second week to gain sympathy. Janet explained: "Carol had a difficult childhood. Both her mother and father favoured her twin brother, Mark. "If she talks about those issues with the other contestants in the second week I'm sure the viewers will warm to her vulnerable side and would want to support her." Meanwhile Jennie - runner-up last year - said: "Carol phoned me before she went into the jungle. "My advice was that she should just be herself and people will get to like her. She's doing brilliantly. She's feisty and is managing to win the affections of lots of people. She's one of my favourites, along with Sid Owen." Carol also spent a week in Thailand to get used to jungle conditions. She has so far given a good account of herself, despite breaking camp rules and weeing by her bed on the first night. She successfully parachuted 12,000ft into the jungle - although she was sick on the way down. In her first Bushtucker Trial she steered a specially-made car over a 100ft drop, and even apologised for damaging the car when she lost control half way. And viewers have to admire the way she, with fellow contestant Jilly Goolden, managed to swallow delicacies including a wallaby's ***** and a kangaroo's testicles in her second Bushtucker Trial. Carol's thorough preparation for the show seems to be paying off as many experts are now tipping her to win. Latest Celeb odds make Sheree 2/1 favourite, with Carol at 3/1 and Sid Owen 5/2.
