Hard enough being the daughter of the Iron Lady without having to eat live grubs, but her pluck could soon bring great rewards

Journalist and broadcaster Carol Thatcher displayed nerves of steel last week as she steered a jeep along a makeshift canopy bridge 100ft above the Australian jungle. Before she could finish her challenge on ITV's I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!, the car had plunged off the track and she was left dangling in her harness.
For once, those impossibly smug Geordie chipmunks, Ant and Dec, looked ashen. But the daughter of Baroness Thatcher simply brushed herself down and apologised for damaging the car. Later, she quipped: 'I should have brought my chauffeur.'

A superstar was born. The Daily Mail christened her the new Bridget Jones (in Bigger Pants). The People urged its readers to vote for her rather than nubile soap star, Kimberley Davies, while the Mirror ran the headline 'Vote Thatcher: I bet You Never Thought You'd Read That in the Mirror'. And yet 'Thatch', as she dubs herself, is an unlikely icon. Posh, the wrong side of 50, she spends most of her time on the slopes at Klosters.

Politicians seeking fame are still something of a novelty. But it is a dangerous trend

You can define some people by their taste in fauna. Either you go for David Attenborough hunting mayfly in Life in the Undergrowth or you pick Carol Thatcher crunching kangaroo testicles in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Lady Thatcher, being more of an Attenborough type, has not watched her daughter swallowing the cheaper cuts of bushmeat. This is a pity, because Carol is the saviour of a struggling series. Although the show is more of a cultural institution than the Queen's Christmas broadcast, it is suffering a nonentity crisis.

Well I won't be voting for Thatch just because she is an ex prime ministers daughter with a posh voice. So far I have seen a lot of her mothers traits; two-faced, liar, arrogant, rudness.....Just because she has decided for whatever reason to appear on the show with the knowledge gained so she can win at all costs does not escape my notice.
That is why she will never be my Queen.
