LONDON -- ITV controller of entertainment
Claudia Rosencrantz is to leave the commercial network in January after 10 years in which she has commissioned such hits as "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" "Pop Idol," and
"I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" Rosencrantz did not disclose her plans but she said, "It's been an absolute blast. I don't know where the time has gone but I do know it's now time to do something else."
She began her career in newspapers, joining London Weekend Television in 1986 as a researcher. Her production credits include Elton John's "Tantrums and Tiaras" and Barry Humphries' Dame Edna Everage specials. "Claudia has been responsible for some of the biggest entertainment hits in ITV's history," said ITV director of television Simon Shaps. "It's no exaggeration to say the U.S. networks have watched and waited to see what Claudia commissioned."
No details on a successor were available. (Ray Bennett)
