I'M A Celebrity has not even started yet - but bookies have already taken more than £1million in bets.

Former Neighbours star Jason Donovan, 38, is the early favourite to scoop this title on odds of 2/1.

Half of all the bets placed with Ladbrokes have been put on Aussie Jason, who yesterday admitted he will use the show to relaunch his singing career.

He said: "It's true that I'm working on some new material." Ex-Busted member Matt Willis is in second-place at 4/1.

Former Hear Say singer Myleen Klass is close behind him on 5/1.

In contrast to Jason, Phina Oruche, 34 - who played drug-addled bisexual beauty Liberty Baker in Footballers' Wives - has yet to receive a single wager.

Nick Weinberg, spokesman for Ladbrokes, said: "Phina is friendless - but she still has odds of 14/1".

The odds for the other contestants stand at Toby Anstis 8/1, Faith Brown 9/1, Lauren Booth 10/1, Scott Henshall 12/1, Jan Leeming 16/1.

Bringing up the rear is US oddball David Gest - who is currently ranked as a 33/1 outsider.

Liza Minelli's ex-husband will appear in the show which kicks off tonight.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "We always draft in extra staff for I'm A Celeb and the early figures suggest we could take in excess of £2 million on this year's contest."

Gest is the outsider to win the show, while Jason Donovan is favourite to be crowned King of the Jungle.

Former Busted star Matt Willis and ex-Hear'Say singer Myleene Klass are also among the favourites.

William Hill took nearly one thousand bets on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here in the last hour before the show started.

The bets were well distributed between the celebrities with the exception of David Gest! Jason Donovan did nothing this evening to change William Hill's mind and he is the 5/2 favourite to win.

"It has been pandemonium in the office for the last few hours, all the celebrities have been well backed with the exception of David Gest who has been completely ignored, which,is something he must be used to. Personally I cannot see anyone betting Jason Donovan," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

I'M A CELEBRITY... Get Me Out of Here has started and punters have been rushing in their droves to support music mogul David Gest a job that used to belong to Liza Minelli.

One contestant worth swerving is 9/2 favourite Jason Donovan after his absurd declaration moments before jumping out of a plane: "Sometimes if you jump you might find you can fly." Sure, Jason.

I'm not sure of the sexual leanings of DJ Toby Anstis (5/1) but I've noticed Scott Henshall (41/1) eyeing him up. Given the jungle environment and searing heat there's every chance the fashion designer might end up with Anstis in his pants.

I've said it before, black contestants don't win reality shows. Ray Fearon, booted off Strictly Come Dancing this week, is the latest case in point.

Joint Favourites In The Jungle Surprise

Myleene Klass and Jason Donovan are now the 2/1 joint favourites with William Hill to win I'm A Celebrity with David Guest, who started as the 33/1 rank outsider, now priced at 9/2 third favourite.

Following their pathetic Bush Tucker trials Scott Henshall, Phina Oruche and Jan Lemming are 33/1 no hopers.

"At this early stage it is difficult to tell who will win the show but you can normally tell who has no chance at all and the trio of Scott, Phina and Jan are completely out of it," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
