TROUBLED Suzanne Shaw has jungle babe Myleene Klass to thank for saving
her life.
The gorgeous girl admits she felt like ending it all after hitting rock-bottom.
But, thanks to her “rock” and best pal Myleene, 28, she’s got her life – and career – back on track.
Now she’s looking forward to pulling on her stockings and suspenders in a new West End production of smash musical The Rocky Horror Show.
Yet, just a few months ago, Suzanne admits she was hit by a wave of depression. And it was only thanks to I’m A Celebrity star Myleene that she managed to overcome it.
Suzanne, 25, was devastated after being dumped by infamous love-rat Darren Day, 38.
As she struggled to cope as a single mum with the baby blues, the former Hear’Say babe found herself caught in a spiral of misery.
Her confidence was shattered, her career sinking and her money running out.
Yet one person was always there for her – her old Popstars pal Myleene.
Bury-born Suzanne admits: “Sometimes it was a real struggle to keep going. I was battling a deep depression.
“It was only Myleene’s support that helped me pull through. She’s helped me through the dark times and has been as solid as a rock.
“She’s Godmother to my two-year-old son, Corey, and like my sister. Myleene has helped me get through the dark times over the past two years.
“A few months ago, I was feeling really down on my birthday. When she called me to say ‘Happy birthday’, she realised I was unhappy.”
The following evening, after Suzanne had been appearing on stage in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, Myleene turned up.
“I walked off stage and she was sat in my dressing room,” she says. “She’d driven all the way from London and was just there for me.
“That night, she had to drive all the way back to London to get up early and do a TV show. That’s what an incredible friend she is.
“On her days off, she helps out with Corey – and so does her partner, Graham. Without these people around me would I have been able to carry on?
“From the minute I was pregnant, Myleene was by my side. She’s very strong, very good at saying, ‘Pull yourself together, everything’s going to be fine’. She’s got a nice combination of tough love and sympathy.”
Suzanne also reveals that Myleene, who came second to Matt Willis, 23, in I’m A Celeb last week, phoned her just before joining the show in Australia.
“She told me how nervous she was and asked me whether she was doing the right thing. I said: ‘Of course you are – you’re such a lovely person, you could never come across in a bad way.’
“She wanted to get over a lot of fears, conquer new things, so she did it for the right reasons.
“It’s been massively character building for her. Up until now, even the tiniest spider gave her sleepless nights. I’m so proud of her.”
Once Myleene arrives home, Suzanne has promised to give her a big hug – then hit the shops with her.
She says: “We’ve planned a full-on shopping day together, which is always our favourite fun.
“We have similar styles. On our girlie days, we meet in Covent Garden, shop first and then eat at Pizza Express.”
Suzanne is now looking forward to appearing on stage in The Rocky Horror Show later this month.
And she’s also hoping to put her fling with Darren behind her. After spending 18 stormy months together, he dumped her while she was pregnant.
But she dismisses his claims that he left because she was violent towards him. She insists: “It’s just laughable. I have no violence in me whatsoever.
“Nobody would believe what went on behind those four walls when Darren and I were together, it was that outrageous.
“I can throw thousands of true allegations straight back at him that people would go cold over. He doesn’t upset me any longer. I’m just so frustrated with the crap that comes out of his mouth.
“I’ve had no financial support from him. I’m the only one supporting my son financially. It took its toll on me.”
But with Myleene on her side, Suzanne is sure to win through.
Suzanne stars in The Rocky Horror Show at London’s Comedy Theatre from December 21 to January 27.
