Musical star wears jeans to Harrods
Friday February 23
Jason Donovan ventured into Harrods wearing jeans, 15 years after being turned away for being too scruffy.
The one-time Ramsay Street romeo fell foul of the west London department store's posh dress code in 1992 when he was refused entry while wearing ripped knee-length jeans.
Rules have since been relaxed for customers but when Donovan, 38, returned to the store he found himself surrounded by staff clad in denim.
Even the doormen - known as "green men" at Harrods - had sneakily slipped on a pair of jeans under their traditional green overcoats.
Staff were given the option of turning up for work at the upmarket store in denim for the day if they paid £2 to the Jeans For Genes appeal, which raises funds for research into genetic disorders through "mufti days".
Later, celebrity models were due to take to the catwalk at Harrods, showing off designer brand jeans in a fashion show to raise money for the appeal.
Donovan revived his showbiz career last year with a spell on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
