Singer and reality TV star Peter Andre is in hospital with suspected meningitis, it was revealed today.
The husband of glamour model Jordan, Katie Price, was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, Surrey, by ambulance at the weekend when he fell ill while recording a fly-on-the-wall documentary for ITV.
Today a spokesperson for Andre, 34, said progress had been made.
"Following recent tests on Peter Andre at the East Surrey Hospital, it is believed that Peter is suffering from suspected meningitis."
It is not yet known whether Andre is suffering from the viral or bacterial form of meningitis. Both cause inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord but viral meningitis is more common and, while very painful, less serious. Bacterial meningitis proves fatal in around one in 10 cases.
Andre was born in London but moved with his family to Australia when he was six.
He met Price on the TV programme I’m a Celebrity? Get Me Out Of Here in 2004 and the pair have since recorded a single together and made a reality TV show about their lives.
