Money is the moral
Sue Carroll 05/12/2007

Revealing her pert bottom on the front of a Sunday newspaper, Cerys Matthews says she and I'm A Celebrity contestant Marc Bannerman share "similar old-fashioned morals".

Oh, put your clothes on love and grow up.

But "old-fashioned morals" isn't all they have in common. Both are considerably richer after selling stories of their jungle flirtation.

A "romance" that has, thus far, amounted to one kiss and a few phone calls, though doubtless it will have developed into full-blown passion by the time a glossy mag comes calling.

"I hope we can have children together," says Bannerman, who in the same breath claims his relationship with ex-girlfriend Sarah Matravers only got wobbly when she mentioned the baby word. "She was not suitable," he says of the woman he lived with for two-plus years. So why buy her a commitment ring?

It strikes me his idea of commitment is half-an-hour in a hammock. Cerys might have guessed that when he didn't show up for her exit.

His excuse? "I don't want my private life to become a circus."

Short of putting on a red coat, top hat and standing in a sawdust ring, it could hardly be anything less.
