Bobby Ball escapes driving ban
Comic Bobby Ball escaped a ban for driving at 97mph - because he lives in fear of his former son-in-law, who is due out of jail this month.
The comic, real name Robert Harper, 63, told Sunderland JPs he also needed to drive his wife, who has epilepsy.
Ball, half of veteran duo Cannon and Ball, said: "Our lives got threatened and we got attacked by my ex-son-in-law who became a drug addict. We had four years of hell until he got sentenced."
He admitted speeding on the A1(M) was given five points on his licence and fined £600.
