Christine Hamilton has changed her name by deed poll to "Mrs British Battleaxe". The wife of former Tory minister Neil Hamilton made the change to promote an online deed poll provider. The 59-year-old gained a fearsome public reputation through a number of TV appearances, including the 2002 series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. She published a Bumper Book of British Battleaxes in 1997, and said the new moniker was an obvious choice. The name change was made in a lighthearted spirit, she said, but was official, and she has a certificate to prove it. "I haven't got round to changing my bank account, passport or chequebook, but who knows?" she said. "I have to admit I didn't ask Neil before I did it." PressAssociation |
