He doesn't have insurance ! John Lydon has revealed he is facing a huge bill after his London house burned down, without any insurance. The 55-year-old singer was in Italy when a faulty tumble dryer triggered the kitchen fire which destroyed his property in Hammersmith, west London. Speaking at last night's MOJO Awards, Lydon admitted the blaze has destroyed songs he had penned for his latest record Public Image Limited. Talking about the accident, Lydon said: 'Welcome to Rotten World. My wife rang me up just before we were going on stage. 'She said "Oh John, I don't want to disturb you. The house has burnt down." ' He joked: 'Of all things it was a spin dryer, can you imagine Johnny Rotten's trousers being cleaned and dried? 'Well guess what - first time I try to get clean the house goes up in flames.' However, while Lydon will have to pay out for the repairs himself due to his lack of house insurance, he said he the most important thing was that nobody was injured. MailonSundayonFriday |
