Evicted Jordan set to make £1m
THE model Jordan stands to make more than £1m from her newfound notoriety in the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here!, despite her surprise eviction from the camp last night, write Maurice Chittenden and Ben Dowell.
The advertising industry has already decided that Jordan, 25, and John Lydon, 48, formerly Johnny Rotten, the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, who walked out of the show on Thursday are the two whose faces most likely to sell products to the public.
Both have won enormous attention with their antics. In the past week Jordan, originally from Brighton, appeared to dump her boyfriend on screen, flirted openly with her fellow contestant Peter Andre, flaunted her best assets and kissed her fellow contestant Kerry McFadden on the lips.
Lydon has won praise as a leader who talked sense and had the courage to walk out on the programme.
“We have been bombarded with requests for Lydon from production companies and the media, which we have passed on to his agent,” said a spokesman from the show.
Managers of Jordan, whose real name is Katie Price, have also been inundated with offers, including “name your price” fees for photo shoots. Advertising agencies believe she could earn as much as Linda Barker, the Changing Rooms presenter who was a finalist in last year’s series and has since amassed more than £1m from advertising.
The programme has been attracting audiences of more than 12m and peaked at a 52% share of the viewing audience.
Four contestants remain:the convicted fraudster Lord Brocket; Jennie Bond, the former BBC royal correspondent; Andre, a 1990s pop star, and the former Atomic Kitten singer McFadden. Another contestant will be voted out by viewers tonight.
“I’m surprised I lasted that long — I didn’t think people liked me,” Jordan said.
