The American version of the hit reality show The Apprentice may be on its way to becoming a Broadway musical.
Executive producer Mark Burnett, who created the ratings-topping business show, has announced he is writing a musical stage version of the series. The Apprentice, which has just begun its third series on US television, follows the fortunes of a group of young hopefuls vying for a job with American tycoon Donald Trump. A British version of the show, featuring Alan Sugar in the Trump role, is currently running on BBC2.
Details on the musical are sketchy but Burnett said the Broadway version will be a love story and that several songs for the piece have already been written.
In addition to The Apprentice, Burnett also created the TV show Survivor, the program which is credited with kickstarting the current US craze for reality television.
