Castaway, one of the biggest TV series commissioned by the BBC in 2007, is to be filmed in New Zealand.
The second series of the reality TV show will be staged on Great Barrier Island, in the Hauraki Gulf.
The Department of Conservation (DOC) has approved the application from Lion Television, on behalf of the BBC, to film on the island following a thorough process to ensure the area will be well protected.
"Tourism New Zealand has been assisting the production team in sourcing locations, and we are delighted they have chosen New Zealand to film this show," said Tourism New Zealand chief executive George Hickton.
