PAUL Gascoigne was his cheeky old self last night as he starred in TV’s The Match.

Gazza bared his bum as ex-pros beat a team of celebs 2-1 at Newcastle’s St James’ Park.

Singer Robbie Williams was one of a host of stars in the crowd and leapt up when TV pal Jonathan Wilkes scored a goal.

The Match was shown live on Sky One and was watched by a full house of 52,000.



It was an emotional return for ex-Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson, 71, who managed the team of old pros.

He was back for the first time since being sacked in August.


Also there were TV’s Ant and Dec.

Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixon saw So Solid crew boyfriend Harvey play for the Celebrity XI.

Also in the side were actors Ralf Little and Tommy Craig.

Gazza 37, plans to change his name so he can build a new image. He is asking people to stop calling him “Paul”.

Did anyone watch the game? Absolutely brilliant and a very pleasent surprise. I haven't watched any of The Match except a little bit on Saturday night cos I was flicking. Anyway I thought the slebs would be thrashed but they certainly were not! Looked like it was going to penalties right up to the last two minutes of the game.

I heard the ex-pros only did about 30 mins training.

It shows these 'celebs' who go on about how they 'once had a trial with Spurs/Everton/whatever' that they just aren't good enough. Maybe now they'll shut up about it.
