Barry's king of Hell

Ex-boxing champ Barry McGuigan won TV's Hell's Kitchen last night.

The dad of four said after he topped the public vote: "I feel great. It's fantastic to win. I've had an incredible time."

But he added: "It's tough. It's been physically demanding."

Barry pipped Emmerdale's Adele Silva into second place.

Both said they were hopeless at cooking before the ITV1 show, with Adele, 26, admitting she could not boil an egg. Barry, 46, won over the critics with his mashed potato.

Meanwhile fiery chef Marco Pierre White is being talked into a second helping of the popular show.

Itv bosses are offering him a six-figure deal to return in 2008. He said: "I have enjoyed it. We'll see what happens."

A £2M POT FOR ADELE

QUEEN of Hell’s Kitchen Adele Silva plans to open her own Adele’s Kitchen and cook up a fortune.

She is set to earn more than £2million over the next 12 months after proving a massive hit on the ITV1 reality show.

And one company even wants to back Adele’s dream of opening her own restaurant.

More than 8m viewers tuned in last night to see the tasty 26-year-old’s head-to-head showdown with ex-boxer Barry McGuigan, 46, in a gripping finale.

Big-money offers have been flooding in. A close friend admitted last night: “Adele is in huge demand and thanks to Hell’s Kitchen the world really is her oyster.”

Tears

But Adele broke down in tears after confessing: “I will never forget the memories I’ve had from here.”
The show’s kitchen boss Marco Pierre White, 45, told the pair: “I’m going to miss you when you go. I tried to get myself voted off yesterday but they wouldn’t let me!

“Congratulations, well done you’ve both come through with your reputations intact which I think is important.”
Adele’s deals include cook books, telly programmes, including a cookery slot, modelling and telly advertisements.

A pal said: “Several companies have come up with ideas for eateries using Adele’s name. It’s a chance she never thought she’d have.” Marco added: “Adele has been fantastic. If she wasn’t an actress she could definitely become a chef full-time.

“She is very focused and organised. I think she definitely has what it takes to run her own kitchen. She wanted to learn and listened to what I was saying.

“I hope what I’ve taught her will change the way she cooks forever.”
Adele already has a six-figure lingerie deal with Debenhams, who want to extend the contract.

Stage bosses have also approached Adele about following Hell’s Kitchen winner Jennifer Ellison into the West End, and ITV chiefs are also keen to cast Adele in a glossy drama series.

Adele is on a year’s break from her role as Kelly Windsor in Emmerdale and will make her final appearance next month.

A spokeswoman said: “Adele will be back in 12 months.”
Barry’s career is also expected to receive a huge boost. Sources claimed companies were lining up with commercial deals including potato, chip and crisp adverts after the Ulsterman’s mashed potato became legendary in the show.

Barry’s wife, mum-of-four Sandra, 46, said: “To say Barry couldn’t cook before Hell’s Kitchen is an understatement.”

McGuigan's knockout hit

FORMER boxer Barry McGuigan was last night crowned the winner of telly’s Hell’s Kitchen.

The ex-world champ said: “I’m very pleased. It’s fantastic.”

And he said of top chef Marco Pierre White: “He’s an exceptional man. It’s physically demanding, believe it or not. We’ve had a fantastic journey.”

I so wanted Adele to win and I think Marco and his staff looked taken aback when Barry's name was called as the winner.

Marco turned out to be a pussycat in the end. Relative to GR anyway. I didn't mind who won, Barry and Adele were worthy finalists and best of the bunch.

Well done Barry!

Top Five Moments on Hell’s Kitchen 2007

Being a huge fan of ‘La Ramsey’, I was suspicious of newcomer (albeit legendary chef) Marco Pierre White on this year’s Hell’s Kitchen. But what a series it has ended up being – pop strops, WAG idiocy and, unfortunately, bigoted rants. If you missed even a night, you missed out. Here’s the Top 5 most priceless moments
