Yes Michelle I watched this and I agree. I reckon he didn't do too bad too except he let the kids get too out of control!

It was really good, I never used to like Micheal Portillo he was brave to do it. I admire lots of single mums, my aunt is a single mum and she works as well, finds it hard. So I think you are brilliant Lynns you all deserve a medal!

I also wouldn't begrudge those single mums whom choose to stay at home because being a mum is hard work and a full time job.

What I don't like is mum and dad living together and not wanting to work.

I am really getting worried I have never voted conservative but I am now liking a conservative M.P!

Did anyone watch the programme on BB2 with Micheal Portillo. Where he was single mum for a week!

I know the kids were loud etc but I have to say that when compairing this single mum with the wife swap couple with eight kids, one had to admire the fact she was bringing 4 kids up alone and managed to do two jobs. She was not swallowing herself in benefits and you could tell she tried to do the best she could with the little money she had.

What a fantastic programme!!! ()^
....Easily, the best "reality" t.v show of the year.
Whatever your opinions of Michael Portillo, as a polititian,
(and everyone has an opinion ;) )....you have to admit it was quite a gutsy and brave challenge for him to attempt.
Ithought he handled everything with humour and compatition, and seemed genuinely fond of the eldest girl. ()^
He got stuck in to the shopping, working in the supermarket and the school and seemed well like by the mothers friends and colleagues. ()^
......I think it should be made compulsory for all perspective M.P's to undergo a similar experience....
as the mum said:- "welcome to the real world Mikey!!"
...if you missed this programme - you missed out. ()^

I missed that but saw wife swap!

I have to say out of the loutish swearing lazy bloke and the vegan control freak I prefered the bloke!! So his attitude stank but deep down he loved his wife and son and I think you have to admire a bloke that takes on someone elses kids!!!

I felt really sorry for the vegan womans kids and husband - especially when they had the bbq and they loved it - fair play to the other woman for making the kids stay with her...its true that you cant let your kids out to roam the streets these days!! I thought she was gonna be dog rough but she seemed really nice - bit of a mug but nice!

Okay long rant.........

Did anyone see tonights? That Jude was sooooo brainwashed and the proof was when she said "that's how it used to be with my family but that's been repressed to fit in with roy"!!!!!!! God that man reminded me so much of my ex and reminded me why I would never get involved with a man with no kids or at least experience of them. Jesus Hitler didn't get a look in! Rules, rules, rules and then some rules. And fines for leaving wet towels in their bedroom!?! The thing that got me the most was that when it was Jude's turn to make the rules she undid all the stuff she had so enjoyed??? And then couldn't understand why the kids didn't respect her? Hello!? You have to earn respect not shout it at them? "I am your elder you will respect me"? *LOL* I couldn't believe it when she said "what a fantastic husband who lets his wife out on her own? LETS?????? Don't even go there Tony *LOL* Again shades of my ex, to quote Jude "he doesn't say I can't go but makes me feel uncomfortable for going" yep, been there done that. Doing what I *ashamedly* did and putting your life before your kids, which by the way is why I'm divorced today, she should be ashamed.

Rant over! ::lol::

I quite aggree....and you can't be putting peoples pets outside....to them it must have seemed like sticking a little brother or sister out there. No wonder the daughters freaked out.
As for Roy......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrrr what a tool.
And sour face Jude....seemed so proud of the fact that he never let her go out alone.
Whoopy doo Friday nights they walk down to the off licence to do the lottery and have a beer on the way home. Imagine the shock if they didn't do the lottery until saturday? heaven forbid.

It's always the "nice" couple who gets on the live web chat after too. Suffice to say it was NOT Roy and Jude tonight.

Agree with this and Lyns' post. Did you see the smirk on Jude's face when Belinda called her an 'evil cow' for making the pets stay outside and forcing her kids to eat vegetables? The cow enjoyed upsetting her.

And as for Roy...need to go back into therapy seeing my own dad on telly
