That was a very thrilling final, I just did NOT know who would come first for the boys OR girls!

Wow, JK can go some :o (100 metres sprint i'm talking about, and cycling too actually)
I tell you what if Jade stayed on the subs bench where he should've been, and if the judges had judged fairly, JK would've won the whole thing. Yay! I'm just going to pretend he did.

Now I can't wait to see Shane kick Jade's arse! :D

Queen Javine

Javine was announced as winner before she even set foot on the track.

She only needed to take second place in her strongest event, the 100m sprint, to claim the crown as the highest-scoring female in Games history.

Flanked by Michelle to her left and Julia to her right, she powered straight from the blocks to make the race her own and establish a new Games record of 14.08 - a full half a second clear of her closest rival.

Julia turned in a powerful performance, coming up the inside lane within a whisker of the victor, but it was Michelle who rose to the challenge and recovered from her no throw in the Hammer with a superb second place - collecting the Bronze medal in the process.

Javine was delighted, crowing: "It's a lifetime's ambition. When I was younger I wanted to be an athlete, and this is a dream."

Silver-medallist Julia conceded that her opponent was just too good, saying: "Javine's in a different league, she outclassed us."

Now only one target remains - to do it all again tomorrow night and become the Champion of Champions. cH4

Jade Gets Gold

Jade was crowned 2006 Games champion despite an electric display from Plat'num in the 100m sprint.

The man in green wrapped-up Gold with a third-place finish that sees him a massive 10 points clear of his nearest rival. That title belongs to Plat'num, who held off a fierce challenge from JK to win the final event with a blistering time of 12.33.

JK's performance saw him shake off the tag of under-achiever and clinch a bronze medal, edging the unlucky Peter into fourth place. Not for the first time Adam brought up the rear, but he can be proud of a respectable final tally of 13 points.

The underdog paid tribute to his fellow athletes, saying: "Full respect for everyone for letting me take part so late on."

Overcome by emotion, the victory sent Jade cliché-crazy. "I'm over the moon, lost for words, totally blown away, yeeees!" he blurted.

Plat'num basked in his own victory on the night, but admitted: "That was tighter than I thought. I didn't think it would be that close."

After taking his place on the podium before an adoring crowd in the pouring rain, Jade regained his composure, saying: " Throughout the whole competition, I don't know where it's all come from. This is a moment I'll never forget." Ch4

Champion of Champions - Team 2004

Shane Lynch

Former Boyzone member Shane Lynch is one of the finest athletes The Games has seen. Now a professional racing driver, he has a history of athletic achievement - getting off to an early start as Ireland Under-10 Front Crawl Champion.

But Shane knows his natural ability won't guarantee a victory, saying: "I wouldn't say I was better than anybody... anything can happen on the day." Wise words.

Romeo

Romeo shot to fame with South London garage rudeboys the So Solid Crew in 2001, and scored two solo Top 10 hits with "Romeo Dunn" and "It's All Gravy". He soared to second place in 2004's events, but is at something of a disadvantage in tonight's water-based Championship as he can't yet swim 50m.

Lady Isabelle Hervey

Lady Isabella Hervey earned her athletic frame as a professional show jumper. The 2004 Girls' winner also starred in Celebrity Love Island, and has capitalised on her sporting prowess by releasing a fitness DVD.

Although she's physically fit, her rivalry with Linda Lusardi may cause problems for team morale.

Model and actress Linda Lusardi is famous for her well-developed physique. She secured her place in the Hall of Fame by being voted Top Page 3 Girl of All Time in 2003.

The 47-year-old came second in 2004, when her best event was the Cycling.

Champion of Champions - Team 2005

Kevin Simm

Liberty X star Kevin Simm took the silver in 2005's competition. He was considered a promising footballer at school, but chose a career in pop because he thought he'd get more girls.

These days he gets his sporting fix as a regular on the celebrity football circuit, and he's also keen on golf and freestyle skiing.

Chesney Hawkes

The one and only Chesney Hawkes made Games history as the first contestant to dive off the 10m board. When the pop star's not writing material for bands like Tricky and A1, he's gigging with his band, who've racked up an amazing 350 gigs in the last two years.

The Bronze medallist was also a finalist on the singing show Hit Me Baby One More Time - let's see if he can go for Gold tonight.

Kirsty Gallacher

Kirsty Gallacher was the 2005 Ladies' Champ, romping home with the highest-ever score by a female athlete. The daughter of Ryder Cup Champion Bill Gallacher, she's a keen sportswoman who enjoys swimming, tennis, and golf in her spare time.

TV presenter Kirsty's a strong swimmer, and looks set to challenge Javine to take the prize as Champion of Champions.

HRH Princess Tamara

Tamara took the Bronze medal in last year's competition. A talented sportswoman, she left school at 15 to pursue a career in show jumping. She's also a keen kick boxer, water skier, and skydiver.

Champing at the Bit

It was like they'd never been away. A throng of tightly trunked Games legends flexed their muscles in a way that said 'I am the champion' in today's Diving heats.

If Jade and Plat'num were in any doubts about the stiffness of the competition, Shane, Chesney, Romeo and Kevin reminded this year's high-flyers they'd be getting it very hard. Every athlete looked in top form, even Romeo - and he can barely swim.

The 2004 runner-up looked hunky and confident on the board and executed his inward tuck with aplomb. The coach noticed "a bit of strain on the entrance" and Romeo admitted he "needed to straighten the legs a bit".

Shane, regarded as the Games' best ever diver, made a stylish return with a flawless straight dive from the 5m board, and the 2004 joint-winner warned: "I'm just getting used to the water."

Chesney was less pleased with his inward tuck, saying, "It didn't feel right going in." But his 2005 team-mate Kevin produced his best-ever dive. "It felt good," he purred, after making a deliciously smooth entry, while the coach praised him for a "great ripple".

If Jade had spent the whole night celebrating, no one would have guessed it. He shunned his cute little green trunks for Lycra leggings (his "training pants", apparently) and made a very tidy entry.

Plat'num also gave one of his best-ever dives, although he was concerned that his "legs were a bit like that". He then wiggled his fingers backwards and forwards to illustrate what he meant.

Six strapping lads on top form... but who will be the Champ? Ch4

The Games winners: Javine and Jade

Singers Javine Hylton and Jade Jones have been crowned champions of TV show The Games.

The R&B stars came out on top after eight days of gruelling competition for the Channel 4 programme.

Participants took part in events including hurdles, weightlifting, curling, swimming, archery, hammer and the 100m sprint.

Other more unusual events included for the first time were white water kayak slalom, kendo and archery.

Javine, 24, who last year represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, was dubbed "Javine Machine" after winning six out of nine events. Her wins included hurdles, gym floor, swimming and the 100m sprint.

She said: "This is a dream come true. It's been a tough contest and I'm really pleased to have won."

Jade, 25, a former singer in boy group Damage and long-term boyfriend of Spice Girl Emma Bunton, notching up five event victories. He said: "It's been brilliant. I'm totally over the moon."

Liberal Democrat MP Julia Goldsworthy and Radio 1 DJ JK (Jason King) came second overall while Michelle Gayle and Blazin' Squad MC Plat'num secured took third place.

The other competitors were TV presenter Amanda Lamb, Bernie Nolan, Adam Rickitt and Peter Duncan.

They spent three months in intensive training with world-class sporting experts including Roger Black, Sally Gunnell and Suzanne Dando. The group competed in front of a live audience and lived together in the purpose-built athletes' village in Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium. wanadoo
