Hell's Kitchen 9pm - 10.30pm ITV1 18th April 2005

Gallagher supports Appleton's chef TV debut

Oasis star Liam Gallagher is so thrilled his lover Nicole Appleton has been chosen to host British reality TV show Hell's Kitchen, he's agreed to sample the celebrity contestant's cooking skills on the programme.

Ex-All Saints star Appleton will interview famous diners for the show, which sees chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and Gary Rhodes training celebrities to be professional cooks - and the Wonderwall rocker will be waiting in the restaurant to support her first TV presenting venture.

She says: "Liam and my family are very supportive and I know they'll be watching every night and will come to eat in the restaurant. It's my first presenting role so I'll be nervous, but it's going to be great fun. I can't wait to sample the food and meet the celebrities. Hopefully I can inject some of my own glamour - I'm already shopping for outfits." breakingnews

A SEXY soft porn star is set to spice up Hell's Kitchen, The People can reveal.

Stunning Samantha Ramplin, 31, is one of ten wannabe chefs cooking for glory in the new series of ITV's reality show, which starts tomorrow night.

The pretty brunette used to strip at Stringfellows in London, where her fans included DJ Chris Evans.

She has also bared her charms in photoshoots, including a four-page special for a sleazy top-shelf mag.

Sam entered the show as an erotic dancer in a bid to boost her hopes of building an acting career. She has already appeared in Sky One's Dream Team.

ITV bosses loved her at auditions. And friends believe she'll serve up some nudity if it helps her to win.

One source close to Sam said: "She loves getting her kit off as she has a fantastic body, so things are sure to get hot. Sam has a very colourful past, which will shock a lot of people on the show. She is determined to carve a career as a serious actress and really wants to be famous.

"Her sex appeal is sure to make her a favourite with fellas watching."

Mum-of-two Sam once dated ex Blue Peter star Tim Vincent.

Her second husband, sunbed salesman Paul Richardson, 32, walked out on her this year for glamour girl Natalie Denning.

Sam has told Hell's Kitchen bosses she wants to run her own restaurant - and the chance to do just that is first prize in the show.

In show publicity blurb she says: "I've always loved cooking. I cook every night and I don't eat out.

"About a year ago my marriage broke down. He left me for a young glamour model. I want to make something of my life."

ITV said: "We are aware Sam had done glamour work. We weren't aware she worked as a lapdancer but that doesn't affect her position in Hell's Kitchen. She was picked for her passion for food."

A massive eight million fans were hooked on last year's first series of Hell's Kitchen, starring foul-mouthed chef Gordon Ramsay.

This year the format changes, with two teams of non-celeb trainees battling it out - each under the leadership of a Michelin cook.

One team will be trained by Gary Rhodes and the other by French cook Jean-Christophe Novelli.

As before they will have to conjure up meals for star diners.

And with saucy Sam in the kitchen, things could get really steamy. Sundaypeople

NAUGHTY NOVELLI'S RECIPE FOR SEX-CESS

NEW Hell's Kitchen chef Jean-Christophe Novelli has revealed the second love of his life after food - loads of sizzling SEX.

The Casanova cook, who'll be a mouth-watering main course for female viewers of the hit ITV show, said: "I've always been passionate about food.

"But, you know, food and sex are actually related.

"Nothing else on earth engages your five senses simultaneously apart from having a good s**g or eating well."

The handsome Frenchman, once voted The World's Sexiest Chef, left a trail of broken hearts as a boozing womaniser. But twice- divorced Novelli, now 44, insists he's calmed down after he almost cracked up with the strain of hard work and partying.

He explained: "I couldn't carry on the way I was. It got out of hand. I was running on empty, drinking, chain smoking, parties. Endless champagne and women...

"I don't know how I managed to do it all for so long."

Novelli, known by pals as JC, has promised to turn up the heat on rival chef Gary Rhodes, saying: "I'm going to be like a dog with a bone."

Novelli's 18-year-old daughter Christina, who lives with him in his London flat, will be joining him on tomorrow's show.

She's the only girl in his life right now. So ladies if you're looking for the perfect dish...Sundaypeople

Second helping: Hells Kitchen Culinary contest ... who will come out on top

IT'S set to be the biggest culinary clash on TV, as smash-hit show Hell’s Kitchen returns for more sizzling action.

But this time fiery cook Gordon Ramsay has been replaced by two new chefs – spiky-haired Brit Gary Rhodes and hunky French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Each professional heads a team of five aspiring chefs, who are ordinary members of the public with a passion for food.

Over two weeks, the teams must cook every night in Hell’s Kitchen’s restaurant in London.

Last year, over eight million viewers watched Gordon Ramsay’s blazing rows with his celebrity chefs, including the winner, former Brookside babe Jennifer Ellison.

TV bosses are hoping their two new chefs will cook up as much of a storm – with Gary promising to throw off his mild-mannered image.

“I have strict rules in the kitchen,” warns Gary, 44. “If my chefs are not there for the right reasons, I’ll kick them out.

“People are used to seeing me on programmes such as Masterchef, where it’s all very calm. But my kitchen teams will tell you, when I look at them in a certain way, they know to get their head down, shut up and get on with it. There will be times when I will go berserk.”

Last year’s host, Angus Deayton, returns to present the new format show.

The two competing teams will be filmed in the kitchen and in their newly designed living quarters. They will have to conjure up dishes for over 80 celebrity diners a night.

Then the stars will give their verdict on which team served the best food. But it will be down to the viewers to decide who stays by voting by phone, text or via the show’s website.

At the end of the contest two finalists will compete for the chance to realise their dream of running their own restaurant.

Gary was awarded his first Michelin star at the age of just 26 and has since won four more.

Rival Jean-Christophe’s accolades include being given four Michelin stars and five AA rosettes. In 1999, The New York Times even voted him the world’s sexiest chef!

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in competition with Jean-Christophe,” admits Gary.

“They say he’s the sexiest chef in the world, but I want to serve up the sexiest food.”

Jean-Christophe, 42, will use his Gallic passion to beat his British opponent.

“For me, it’s impossible to separate food and sex,” he says. “The only two things in life that use all five senses are cooking and sex.”

But will the Frenchman lose his cool in the kitchen? “I have a hot temper, but I can control it,” he grins. “It takes a lot to push me.”Sun

ITV needs all the help it can get with the new series of Hell's Kitchen following the departure of its main attraction, Gordon Ramsay. So it was with some excitement that Monkey's simian-at-large attended a preview of the show last week, only to end up with food poisoning. "That's what happens when you get cooked for by amateurs," says our man on the spot. Word has it that celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli's menu proved so popular that producers had to ask guests to choose food from the programme's rival TV cook, Gary Rhodes. Never mind, Gazza, we're not suggesting the food poisoning was your fault. And remember - it's not over 'til the fat lady throws up.

Post subject:  Blogging live from... Hell's Kitchen

April 18, 2005 .Guardian

This is a shameless attempt to file the first blog post delivered LIVE from the set of a reality TV show. I am in a warehouse in east London for Hell's Kitchen - where I am dining, not cooking.

I have just eaten an exceptionally delicious starter from Jean Cristophe Novelli's blue kitchen - Gary Rhodes is in red and NO food is arriving on red tables...

Celebrity count : Nasty Nick - Big Brother 1, Zara Rhodes, and Hugh Cornwell - ex of The Stranglers.

If you know of any other incident of live blogging from a reality TV set let us know in the comments...

• Hell's Kitchen starts on ITV1 at 9pm tonight.

Gary in Kitchen walkout

CHEF Gary Rhodes stormed out of Hell’s Kitchen on the first night of filming because his amateur cooking team were so bad.

Gary, 44, only managed to take out eight of the 34 meals ordered by celebrity diners.

An ITV insider said: “He did storm out but it wasn’t just for the cameras.

“He was really disappointed.”

Diners vote each night on the food of Gary and French hunk Jean Christophe Novelli.

Last night Jean Christophe got five out of 10 and Gary 2½.
