20 October 2005 DailyRecord A REALITY TV show featuring divorcing couples was attacked by family campaigners yesterday. The Channel 4 show, which offers cash to families willing to have their separation filmed, has been nicknamed Wife Chop and will go out next year. But family groups have called for it to be scrapped. Marriage Care boss Terry Prendergast said: "Divorce is a frightening experience which shouldn't be taken lightly. "Children are often worst affected in divorce. To have parents rowing and fighting in front of viewers could be highly dangerous and insensitive A spokeswoman for national mediation charity Relate said: "Turning divorce into a reality show is not something we would approve of. "The fact Channel 4 are trying to lure people to take part with the promise of money and TV training could mean people go on it for the wrong reasons." The show is advertised on beonscreen.com, which attracts thousands of people desperate to become a reality TV star. Channel 4, whose chief executive is Andy Duncan, refused to comment.
