I’ve just watched the tape I’ve made of this, and it’s quite brilliant! Can’t believe no one’s started a thread on this yet!

So many things to discuss!

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s eyebrows-or are they natural and his hair is the dodgy dyed bit? His completely controlling obsessive need to see the tapes of all the auditionees…His faces when listening to the tapes-what a drama queen! And his daughter staring unbelievably at the completely unamusing auditionee…the Sarah Brightman lookielikie…and then the truly embarrassing Sarah Brightman soundielikie…!!!!! The extraordinary gothic redhead who may possibly be 20 years too old for the role…Kirsty, the Northern Irish “clown”-is she for real?

Graham Norton (who I normally can’t stand for his bitchiness) was spot on with his slimeball comments re David Ian-though he’s completely fabulous as well!

“But my favourite-and probably everyone’s-and, I hope the winner, Briony.

David Grinwald “Why are you like Maria?”
Briony “We both really like children…She sings a lot outside, and I often sing when I’m walking down to work…And she fancies Christopher Plummer, and I do, A LOT….”
And her huge feet (like a clown!) and strange walk...But she IS Maria!

And why does Andrew L-W get the Ravel String Quartet as backing music? Bizarre. He's desperate to be perceived as a serious musician. It would help if he took himself a little less seriously.

Class programme. Can’t wait for next week!

Saturday early evenings, BBC1. It's been trailed for ages. They've just had the trailer on again before Neighbours.

Oh I watched it and liked it a lot.

Briony was really good the second time round but watching it I bet a lot of the girls who got chucked wished they'd been able to go back in - after auditions I always know I could do it better and know many others who feel the same way.

Can't really remember names and stuff but it looked good, shall watch or tape the rest.

Yes, it wasn't really fair that they allowed her to re-audition, but I think they see her as a special case-she certainly has something, and it's not that she's the best singer or even a good singer, but she's an extraordinary character. She's a complete innocent, and she is rather obsessed with the musical. I think ALW would have rung her like those other four girls and asked her to Maria school too if she hadn't got in. She probably shouldn't win, but if she's in the final ten then I'm sure the public will vote for her.

Have they had to sing The Lonely Goatherd yet? That must be a very difficult song to sing and would be the surest test of whether they were up to it.

::lol::

Yes, it really would be a test! They haven't sung it yet, but I suspect it's coming up very soon as the trailers for this week include lots of tears and "she told me I couldn't sing!"

Thanks Hippy! (Liking Choccy v much!)

Am just watching part 2 (BB on the vid)

Desperately unrealistic situation to put girls through-one week of training-who becomes a near-professional in a week? Really sorry to see my favourite real life Maria go, but she didn't really have the voice. Now looking forward to hearing all 10 finalists in more detail (or in some cases for the first time!) over the next few weeks.

It was good again tonight.

I do not like that Emilie at ALL from what has been seen so far, what an attitude! Have to say I prefered Siobhan's (sorry if wrong spelling!) voice more that her's even with a sore throat but I suppose you really do have to be able to cut it, what a time to get sick :(

I like the concept but hate several things about the show.

The way the voce coach was bullying the girls she didnt like in a nasty hoprrible way, knowing she can get away with it as the girls are the arrow fodder of the show.

The attitude of the rich idiot Webber bloke, hes just doing a Simon Cowell using the vulnerable for a quick buck.

The rewards for the girls involved will be very low compared to someone winning Pop idol etc, musical theatre is a dog eat dog world. potentialy the winner could be spat out only a couple of grand up. less that she could of got by playing say quizmania. Remember what happened to those poor sould who won roles on Emerdale .. used up and spat out.

I was a tad disappointed that they didn't make them wear habits.
