Taped this last night so had to try and avoid anything with who got voted out until I had a chance to watch it tonight!

As it goes, I felt the right pair went. As was said by the judges, Maria isn't Simona's part and Leanne seems a wee bit too young.

want Siobhan to win!

Irish singer makes final five of reality show

--------------Image

Irish singer Aoife Mulholland has made the last five of the reality television show 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?'.

The 28-year-old singer from Salthill in Galway is currently third-favourite to win the show and earn the role of Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new stage production of 'The Sound of Music'.

Tony Kenny, Irish spokesman for William Hill said; "Aoife is improving rapidly, and the way she's performing at the moment, it wouldn't be a major shock to see the Salthill songstress go all the way."

"She looks fantastic, she's got a great voice and the audience love her. Despite what our odds say, I think she'll win."

Siobhan Dillon, whose father hails from Dublin, is currently favourite to win the show at odds of 11/8. Connie Fisher from Pembrokeshire is the second favourite to take the lead role in the upcoming show.

Why oh why do the BBC have to keep rigging these types of comps.

Helen who was saved 4 times in row by webber got the most massive sob story build up by the editors and webber that she got all the sympathy vote graon .. plus she did TITANTIC song everyone loves or hates while giving others like the poor irish girl foot loose from flash dance FFS.

Why the serious downer on Abi ?? .. she was the tom boy that webber was looking for ??

That Mr Ian bloke is simply voting with the contents of his pants for Shavaun however you spell her name. who IMO was the weakest

Connie Welsh .I didnt realise that ?? and her cynical pleas for Welsh votes :puke:

So we lost Abi and Shavaun and get to keep Helen. who does nothing for me. I dont like her voice. she gurns weird faces when she sings and was clearly second best in her sing off against the Irish lass.

Someone needs to tell Webber.. helen wasnt getting votes pre the sympathy vote for a good reason.

Ah well no doubt webber and Mr Ian will get the one they wont next week,. just like the last fame academy editing and song selection will be weapons of choice, my moneys on Shavaun as a shoe in now. its obvioously looks that count with the silver hairded geezer bank rolling the show.

Never saw this last night (and forgot to get mum to tape it for me, oh well) but was really shocked this afternoon when I was told that Aoife was knocked out, thought she was a sure thing for the final.

::lol::

Typical sopranos having a b*tch! ::lol::

So much for the nice girls they've mainly been portrayed as! Actually, the editing hasn't been in Connie's favour, several times she's been filmed saying that so and so's not a strong singer, or can't act, etc. Nevertheless, she should win, she's the best by miles.

Yes, I'm sure I saw Connie do an extra kick to Simona and throw a grin at the judges!

Glad they're getting to sing the real songs tonight-now we can really tell if they can sing it!

I’m confused.

Last week I was convened the Panel wanted Siobhan to win. hence they gave Abi and the Irish lady such naff songs and dissed them. This week they’ve turned on her

I now don’t care who wins. thou I suspect it will be Helena, who IMO should of gone weeks ago except doesn’t she look like Sarah Brightman. was that why Webber kept saving her ??

I agree Hippo,. Connie is far too desperate and comes across badly in the interviews. but then Helena aint much better.

Good show thou if you’re able to ignore the fact that the shows a fix ${ ${

A fix, Blags? I think you're paranoid! I've disagreed with some of Lord Webber's choices, eg getting rid of Belinda so early, however I get his reasoning as she's traditional, but if he's after something new, then ok, it's an acceptable decision, but she sings far more reliably, consistently and stylishly than Helena, Aiofe, Abi and others that got booted out after her. By those standards, I think they have the right final three. I think the panel HAVE changed their opinions on who they wanted to win, but then they're entitled to-and they see the contestants all week too, which must be enlightening.

There's something that we can't necessarily judge from watching this on telly though, and that's whether they have the ability to sock it to the back row of a huge theatre. You may think that Connie's trying too hard, but in fact it's those huge performances that'll read at the back of the balcony.

I also couldn't quite believe the judges praising Helena tonight (who I think is the most mature and likeable real life person out of the finalists). I thought she didn't sustain the long notes very well, and was a bit wobbly in other areas as well! I like her very much, but Connie's performances were the most competent, and although "Goatherd" was a little lacklustre, I don't think either of the others could have sung it anywhere near that standard. Siobhan's ok, but like Helena was technically lacking, and doesn't really live the songs-it's all too careful.

BTW loving the SEPTEMBER repeat of the Christmas Vicar of Dibley... ${ Certainly the first time I've thought of sprouts this year!
