Celebrity MasterChef BBC1, 7pm weekdays from September 11.

24 celebrities compete for three weeks to be crowned Celebrity MasterChef 2006.

The celeb names released so far are...

To start with the celebs have to knock up two dishes from a mystery box of ingredients, test their stamina by working a real lunchtime sevice at a top London restaurant and impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with a two course meal.

There will be no public vote to decide the winner that will be down to John and Gregg's professional opinion and they don't mince their words. For four finalists in week three, it then gets even tougher when they have to cook for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital as well as for the Roux brothers' at London restaurant, Le Gavroche. The winner is announced at the end of that week.

The temperature’s rising in the MasterChef kitchen once more as 24 food-loving celebrities come under the scrutiny of judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.



Top chef and restaurateur, John Torode, and food writer and ingredients expert, Gregg Wallace, return, judging the cooking skills of well-known faces selected for their passion for food. Twelve celebrities appear each week with three of them competing daily, Monday through to Thursday, with the winner from each heat competing in the quarter-final on Friday.

During the first round heats each celebrity will invent two dishes from a mystery box of ingredients, cook lunch at a top London restaurant and will have to impress the judges with a two-course meal demonstrating flair, skill and potential to make it as a great chef.

In each of the quarter-finals, the celebrities must complete a 'classic recipe' challenge with the elimination of one of the budding chefs. The remaining three will have to impress the judges with their knowledge and passion for food and cook an exceptional three-course meal, with only two progressing to the semi-finals.

As the celebrities advance to the semi-finals and eventually the finals, the tasks become even more challenging. As the pressure increases, only one celebrity will prove that they have the skill, talent, commitment, originality and drive to become the first ever Celebrity MasterChef. BBC
