Vernon Kay and Tess Daly return with a second series of Just The Two Of Us on January 2, can the husband-and-wife team sway viewers to tune into BBC1? The show sees eight celebs sing for survival in a duet-performing showdown, where stars are paired with some of the world’s biggest recording stars. A rigorous training programme set by the professionals will put their partner’s vocal skills to the test, as they battle it out during intense daily rehearsals, live performances, the critique of the judging panel and the triumphs and tribulations of the unpredictable viewer vote. Show One Result Gregg and Carol were the first duo to leave the competition. The time had come to announce the first duo who would be leaving the show. First of all one of our judges was given the opportunity to save one of the bottom three couples - Julia and Tony, Janet and Alexander and Gregg and Carol. Stewart chose Janet and Alexander. "I'm really pleased. My teacher has done such a good job, He's revealed the inner woman," said Janet. This left to Julia and Tony and Gregg and Carol to fight for survival in a sing-off. But after the votes were counted it was announced that Gregg and Carol were the unlucky do who would not be returning to sing tomorrow night. BBC |

OMG! And I've only just caught the end of the results show as well! Could the BBC have helped by auditioning the professionals first? Although I'm not doubting that they all do great work as solo artists, the two I heard at the end couldn't sing in tune when harmonising. Neither could one of them remember the words. Not a great support for their celebrity non-singer partners. This is going to be unmissable tv if the others are as bad! Can't wait for the next one! |

You could not tell who was the real singer with some of the acts.
And once again we see the likes of John Bardon from East Enders not even ending up in the last three.

Swing and Roundabouts Janet remains chipper, despite being voted off. Last night, Janet and Alexander found out that it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing, as they left the competition. Janet remained philosophical, saying she didn't regret taking part and hoped the Panto offers would roll in. "If we'd stayed another night it would have been agony," she said. "I don't regret it for a moment. I'm thrilled I took part. It's great. I got up there and sung with him," she added. "Its really hard for the people who get knocked out, but I get a lie in and can eat chocolate." For more from Janet and Alexander, download our video podcast. BBC |

Janet looked fantastic and sounded good, but her and Alexander didn't seem to have much chemistry. The two that got voted off last night (Luke & Natasha, whoever they are) were terrible. |

I've never liked Marti Pellow's singing style - he always seems to be straining to prove he has "soul" or something - but he surprised me last night by singing Have I Told You Lately (which is one of my favourite songs) without doing this. |
