18 March 2007 BEEB'S BOOBED Jon Wise CASTAWAY has all the promise of a must-see show...just none of the substance. If you don't believe me, just ask the 1.2million viewers who switched off after the first episode. It has potential to turn into Big Brother-esque essential viewing. Especially if weirdo Jonathan keeps up his insane/wacky tricks like not speaking for a day. How about just not breathing for a day, Jonathan? The Beeb has made a number of fatal errors with the show. Presenter Danny Wallace being the main mistake. He's as likeable as out-ofdate Gorgonzola and as annoy in gas Lisa Scott-Lee. Think Davina McCall but even shoutier...and that's saying something. The second error? Leaving the show struggling in a once-a-week, Sunday night slot. If we are to really care about these nobodies, then we need regular updates, bitching, fighting, tears and screaming. So far the highlights have been dolphins and former Lap dancer Erica refusing to bare her bum. Edge-of-your-seat stuff. people |

The former heroin addict and father of one proposed to partner Bryony in New Zealand by writing "Will you marry me?" in sand. And, after putting himself forward to be cut adrift from the BBC One reality show last night, he said: "Hopefully we'll be engaged when I get back. I can't wait to see her." Jason, 37, from Dover, lost 21lb on the isle by a vegetarian diet and said he will continue to do without meat. Speaking about the series he said: "I got a hell of a lot more out of it than I ever thought. "I learnt how to face a few fears like isolation - though I really missed my son and girlfriend." Jason will now be taken on atour of New Zealand for several days and will not be able to speak to his friends and family until he is reunited with them for the first time in five weeks on Castaway Exposed, presented by Richard Bacon on Sunday April 1 on BBC Three. waveguide |

Castaway ditched from prime-time as ratings plunge The BBC is moving reality show Castaway from its current slot after ratings fell to just 2.1 million viewers. It is thought to be one of BBC1's lowest ever ratings for a Sunday night primetime series. The hour-long show has been going out weekly at 9pm on a Sunday. But from April 15 the BBC will ditch that slot in favour of three half-hour episodes at 7pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays - up against ITV1's Emmerdale. The launch episode of Castaway had 4.1 million viewers, but nearly half have now switched off. Nightly updates on BBC3 have been pulling in around 58,000 viewers. DailyMail |

DailyMail They will be lucky if there is any viewers left by the April 15 Last night they used about 15minutes of midwek footage...reminded me of the crap coverage of this years IAC on ITV1. |

Did you watch Castaway Madeline? I know you watched it at the beginning, but did you watch it through to the end? I wanted Francie to win, but you have to admit that Jonathan did make the series interesting. It would have been quite dull without him. |

I watched when I could Christine but I have to say it was the obnoxious, rude self -interested Jonathan that I did not like and I am amazed once again as to why the voting public have rewarded him by making him this year’s winner. I think the rest of the castaways will feel robbed if their comments last night are anything to go by. |

DailyRecord It was him that did most of the shouting, no wonder he needs to live alone. |
