Celebrity MasterChef - BBC1, Friday 7:00pm - 7:30pm

Who would have thought celebrities could cook so well? If there's one thing that two weeks of daily, as it were, hobknobbing with the stars has taught us, it's that not all celebs rely for their sustenance on a ditzy nutritionist and deliveries from Harrods - some can blanch and sauté with the best of them. Who would have imagined that the likes of, say, Jeff Green, a cheeky stand-up comic best known for his quips on sex and relationships, would be able, under pressure, to rustle up a tasty-looking sardine escabeche? Be honest, who knew what an escabeche was before they saw his creation using bread, fresh sardines and puppy-dog enthusiasm? That's been part of the beauty of this series. It hasn't just let us marvel at household names (plus some you've never heard of) sweating and toiling under the gaze of nice Gregg Wallace and the gloweringly smug John Torode, it has also thrown up some inspiring dishes. And if they can make them, it can't be that hard, surely? So tonight, out of the 24 celebrities who started, three finalists cook their best three-course meal for a final verdict and the title of Celebrity MasterChef 2007. Last year, a rugby player won, so really, anything could happen.
