There was a similar task in a show I used to watch called Survivor. Lots of people on a desert island, last one standing won £1m. and the semi final of it, was to guess when an hour had gone by. It doesn't sound it, but it was quite riveting tv.

... During one task where they had to hang from monkey bars, he was winning it easily for his tribe, then he got cocky, start doing some pull-ups, then fell off after a few!!

Very funny! Re-defining the maxim, "Pride comes before a PRAT-fall." ::lol::

Oh yes, that is still in my Top Five BB moments.

The TA guy in Survivor was actually quite likeable otherwise.

I must say, I wouldn't last a week in the BB house, but I wouldn't last even a night on Survivor.

We love Northern Irish accents in our work.

I have to admit if a guy with a Northern twang phones up asking for something, I'm very inclined to say 'yes, certainly, I'll do that for you, and is there anything else?' So shallow... :oops:

Won by the Scottish detective from Edinburgh. They actually set a worldwide record of about 36 hours for standing on a log in the ocean. More compelling than it sounds. Do you remember the wee midget guy from the TA? (he, literally, lost his grip/tired his arm muscles out) Very funny! Re-defining the maxim, "Pride comes before a PRAT-fall." I often think how much more real Survivor was than Big Brother and what a better standard of person participated. More courage, intelligence, perseverance, wisdom, humour, etc. And never mind living with rats like in BB, the Survivor contestants had to EAT THEM!! And the tactics and back-stabbing were even more intriguing. I was disappointed when it was cancelled (in the UK at least).

In fact he was in the final three and only lost out to getting in the final because of that one hour task. He got distracted by some bugs or something and lost count, leaving the scottish policeman and the posh bint in the final. The posh bint was quite unlikeable so had no chance of winning. Survivor was brilliant with great tasks. I remember the log task and the one the previous year where they all had to stand with one hand on a tree and last one standing got immunity. BB could learn a lot from the programme.

I used to love Survivor too. Was the TA guy the Irishman called John who was also a barrister, or something? Or am I mixed up completely?

ooh i liked survivior too and I wanted either John or Johnny to win. The log task was the best task i agree and the eating 1 as well although they stole that for help im a celebrity now. i miss survivior....

Funnily enough, my brother used to work for the Health Service, and he often had to ring England to organise treatments for patients over there. He said that all the women used to drool over his accent and go all flirty with him!!! Hippo - I think some people are just meant to work whether they have money or not. I'm NOT one of them...

Does the whole 'you have a northern irish accent, so sound sexy' apply to women too? I liked Johnny from Survivor too, quite a grounded kinda guy and I think it's quite nice he went on back to work. Better than falling, aimlessly out of nightclubs with a blonde on each arm.

I hear it's the same in banks with tellers, although balaclavas are usually worn and "Please don't shoot me!" is the last sentence. . Nothing against the people of Northern Ireland, but their accent could strip paint from walls and sour milk within a second. And they do tend to get very angry and consequently even more incomprehsible when you ask, "Sorry? Could you say that again?"
