Jim shows his true colours . .Tory blue

I spend most of my time watching the telly thinking: "If only."

If only an Antiques Roadshow expert had the balls to say to that stern-faced grasper expecting a mint from a family heirloom: "See these letters here? MFI."

If only Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's mum had used contraception.

And if only, when Jim Davidson pursed his lips and asked Brian Dowling whether all "shirt-lifters" look like this, he'd pointed back and said: "Do all bigoted, unfunny, Freemason, racist, alcoholic, selfpitying, homophobic, misogynist, wife-beaters look like that?"

Poor Jim, say his defenders, after he was kicked off Hell's Kitchen. He's just an old-school comic speaking his mind in a world gone PC-mad.

If only. Davidson's ugly bullying was constant and systematic. When Dowling tackled him on the "shirt-lifter" jibe he yelled: "Go on, play the homophobic card. You are a f***ing disgrace."

No humour. Just deep, vindictive malice. In many ways it was more disturbing than Jade Goody on Celebrity Big Brother because Davidson's bile was nonimpulsive, nobody was goading him and he knew what he was doing.

And, unlike Goody, Davidson's rant will probably earn him a career boost.

All those who lapped up that unfunny Chalkie White racism will applaud this brave stand for the last persecuted minority in Britain - white, nonpoofter geezers. They'll be queueing from the nearest tattoo parlour to see him flesh out his attack on Dowling - an exaggerated mince, a bum wiggle, a falsetto scream and a wink at an imaginary sailor. Side-splitting stuff. I wish I could get a ticket.

So I could do what that Boy Scout did at a panto in Dartford last year when Davidson asked: "Do you know who I am?" and the lad shouted back: "Yes, you're a f***ing w***er."

Davidson believes "anti-white racism" has kept him off the telly. And there will be many, after the Hell's Kitchen episode, who believe we should refuse to let him back on. (Just like he refused to do a Plymouth gig because the front row was filled with people in wheelchairs, or play Great Yarmouth because the audience was full of "fat children of all colours".)

But I disagree. I want to see more of Davidson. Because if this country is to understand why David Cameron is trying to convince us the Tories have morphed into an all-inclusive, touchy-feely defender of diverse cultures, they need to see Jim.

Here is a man who only a few years ago was doing Tory fundraisers and warming up party conferences. Here is the raw ugliness of the Tory grass-roots psyche laid bare. A twisted mindset which is so repulsive to most modern voters that it needs to be hidden beneath the lies and gimmicks of Cameron's spin machine.

When Davidson was forced to leave Hells Kitchen he whimpered: "I'm just a middle-aged, white Anglo-Saxon. Who sticks up for me?"

The Tories, Jim. They're just not letting on about it.

Brian's did exceptionally well. Jim Davidson will never learn, not while the Ally Ross' & Garry Bushell's write TV columns.
There seems to be a PC theme running through 'reality' TV this year - but Brian had to stand up to homophobic comments.

Brian may not win - it looks like everyman Barry now - but he's done very well.

Homophobia, racism, misogyny - it's all the same.

Lee returns to Hell’s Kitchen!
“I don’t regret anything.” Lee Ryan returns to the restaurant to dine with his mum.

Having left Hell's Kitchen last week following a row with Marco, Lee seem relaxed to be back, and relieved not to be cooking!

“I came back tonight because I got asked to come and I thought I would come down and have a nice meal with my mum,” Lee explained, looking relieved to be on the other side of the pass.

But was he going to steer clear of Marco?

“I have no balls with Marco at all,” Lee said. “I respect the man he is and what he’s achieved. I haven’t got anything bad to say about him.

“But I stand up for what I believe in. I don’t regret anything. I stand by what I said. I didn’t walk out. I would have stuck it out but Marco asked me to leave and I did.

“I don’t really regret things in life. It was a great experience, although it was short lived."

Am really enjoying being able to see a few complete episodes of HK.

My thoughts tonight:

Poor Anneke - I feel for her.
Yes, it is turning into The Brian and friends show. Lucky I'm a friend of Brian's. ::lol::

Marco is an awkward so-and-so, but I can't help liking him.

Scandalous really, how much better this is than BB. :-( - but it's proof that 'Reality TV' is not dead...what's reality, anyway?

I forgot to add, that while I've never been one for Davina-bashing, Angus looks really impressive, in comparison (but then, he hasn't got to contend with an Asbo-crowd)..

I think Marco is a bit of all right. I read somewhere that Barry was 46? He looks like a little old man, to me.

It's funny, me feeling sorry for Anneka - (spelt it right, this time, I think) - she always struck me as a high-achiever, when she was jumping out of helicopters in her jumpsuits..and high-achievers usually bore me.

But in HK, I can identify with her. I'm the 'Anneka' in my job - I try hard, but I'm often crap - poor love.

Nasty guy picking on her, all the same.

Brian's face is very plumped-up. ${

I've a feckin' cheek, commenting on these people - I looked at Barry again, and thought he probably looks younger than me.

Aww I loved Anneka, she is such a jolly hockey sticks kinda woman but also very very personable and was trying her best. I thought Matt was a bit of a git for picking on her. I am glad she has gone though, as I think she really wanted to go but was brave enough to stick at it, rather than walk. I have liked most of the contestants. I think Barry will win, with Brian coming second and Adele third.

Anneka’s outta there!
Anneka’s challenge of a lifetime ends as her prayers are answered by the public vote.

You could tell by the whoops, skips and the hat emblazoned with ‘Help!’, that Anneka was far from disappointed at being voted out of Hell’s Kitchen.

“I’m so thrilled, I tell you,” she gushed. “I have never felt tension like that. It was quite the most ghastly, terrifying ordeal I’ve ever been through. It’s been great but enough is enough sometimes.”

And it seems that tonight, enough was enough, and it might not have fallen solely on your votes to send Anneka home as the temptation to walk wore her down.

During the show we saw Anneka retreat to the fridge in tears when the long-standing tension between her and sous chef Matt became too much.

But with Barry’s words of comfort and ‘The Great White’ to guide her, Anneka stuck to her team and its fearsome figurehead.

“Marco is God,” Anneka sighed, as Angus probed her as to whether she found Hell’s head honcho sexy.

“He is very charismatic, and I did on day two,” she revealed. “But as I got more burnt and in pain, sex went out of the window!”

No doubt her chef whites will follow, as Anneka is whisked back home to her family, and her gloriously chaotic kitchen.

Congratulations Anneka!

I bet taking part in HK was the hardest pay cheque Anneka ever earned.
It is hard gig for all the celebs but I get the feeling Anneka is not used to doing very much housework and found to her cost she was not up to the job.

I saw her on a celebrity version of the excellent C4 show 'Come Dine with Me', Madeline, and it was quite obvious that she's no domestic goddess.

Which made me find her quite endearing.
