In the pipeline..

Producers of Sky Travel's new reality show Conquer the Castle were a bit miffed when the contestants simply refused to hate each other.

In the show, which starts on Sunday, city slickers have to try things like stag hunting in rural Scotland.

But rather than take an instant dislike to their rivals (in time-honoured tradition), the group of six became Facebook buddies and even organised a Christmas reunion. Contestant Muchaneta Kapfunde reveals: "The programme makers obviously wanted bust-ups but we've ended up like the bloody Waltons." Mirror

Tattoo Dave Stars In TV Reality Show

THE man known to thousands of Daily Record readers as Tattoo Dave is starring in a high-profile reality TV show.

Body artist Dave McKinley, from Glasgow, sparked a huge debate on the Record letters page in the summer.

Thanks to that, he's been picked as one of six contestants for new programme Conquer the Castle which hits screens next week.

The STV and Sky production takes a bunch of city dwellers to the Perthshire countryside to run the Blair Castle and Atholl Estate.

They have to hunt game, care for animals, manage a castle and look after guests at the stately home.

Tattoo Dave is the only Scot bidding to be crowned King of the Castle.

He said: "It was unlike anything I'd ever done before and it was the same for everyone else.

"I 'd been up to the countryside before on school trips. But I'm used to life in the city and it was very different but great fun."

"There were some pretty nasty moments, like putting our fingers up a sheep's bum. But we got to learn a lot and I really enjoyed it all."

Dave, 30, who runs the Archangel tattoo parlour in Glasgow, sparked a huge wave of interest in the paper this summer when he wrote in about having women ogle his intricately designed flesh.

Comments passed back and forth and, after the Record did a feature on him, he was contacted by producers.

He said: "One of the researchers from STV phoned me up and asked me to come and audition for the show. So it's all thanks to the Record.

"I thought it sounded like so much fun that I would have done it even if it wasn't for a TV show."

The 12-part series begins on STV on Thursday, January 3, at 7.30pm, and can also be seen on Sky Real Lives from February 3.
