Oh no! Dancing On Ice contestants injured already
Dancing On Ice is set to get off to a slow start after it emerged yesterday that all but one of the contestants are injured! The brave (for brave, read crazy) celebs have already undertaken 600 hours of training between them and have racked up an impressive list of ailments. Linda Lusardi has suffered the most by breaking a bone in her foot, while Natalie Pinkham and Sarah Greene are battered and bruised. Clean Queen Aggie MacKenzie has a twisted knee, while Samantha Mumba is in pain with a torn ligament. The only star to escape injury so far is Hollyoaks’ Chris Fountain, who says he’s a “master of not falling over”. Blimey! Despite all this, ace skater and star trainer Christopher says this year’s show will be the best yet, “They are prepared to go that extra mile. There’s more jeopardy this year,” he promised. heatworld

Mumba faces TV ice axe

Samantha Mumba collapsed at home with a mystery illness yesterday sparking fears she will quit ITV's Dancing on Ice.

Doctors hooked up a drip to the singer, 24, who appeared to have severe flu symptoms and dehydration.

Studio bosses have ordered extra medics and equipment to be on standby in case Samantha is taken ill at Sunday's show.

But Sam is so poorly she fears she will miss this weekend's first live Dancing On Ice.

A source close to the star said: "She was very sick but is resting now and is determined to get better and get back on the ice."

Samantha is one of the favourites to win the show after Gareth Gates and Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain.

Fountain On Ice

Hollyoaks hunk Chris Fountain was the opposite of star-struck when he found out that Olympic gold medallists Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were coaching him in Dancing On Ice.

Chris, 20, who plays Justin Burton, admits: "I kept on calling the Bolero, the burrito. I didn't know what it was - I was born in 1987.

"I know what it is now - it's not the beef wrap they have in Mexico." Mirror

Anybody wanting the Series 2 DVD should look in Morrisons. I bought it for £2.99 but if you buy two of the offer DVDs you only pay £5.

SEXY Suzanne Shaw will get Dancing On Ice off to a flying start with the most dangerous stunt the show has seen.

The gorgeous singer is bracing herself to perform the Death Spiral on the new series of the ITV1 show, which kicks off tomorrow night.

Fans will see her being spun at top speed just inches above the ice by her dance partner Matt Evers, 29.

Suzanne, 26, admitted: “I’m really nervous. I can lick the ice, my head’s so close to it! And falling over scares the life out of me. I get this horrible sick feeling in my stomach, thinking it’s really going to hurt.”

But daredevil Suzanne is fast overcoming her fear in her determination to win the show. And she is hoping all those hours on the ice rink will do wonders for her figure, too – although we reckon it is pretty tasty already.

She said: “I want a skater’s bum by the end of the series. Everyone else seems to be losing weight, but I haven’t. Although I can feel myself toning up.”

Suzanne faces a tough challenge ahead as she takes on 11 other celebs, although some have already been hit by injury during training.

How Clean Is Your House? star Aggie Mackenzie, 52, is a serious doubt for the live launch show due to a hamstring strain.

The show’s physiotherapist said “It’s a very painful injury. We’re hoping she’s going to be fine for the show, but it will hamper her performance.”

I'd like to know how they select who they want to take part ?

With the intensive training they receive before the first show most people would be far better skating than you normally see on the show.

Clare (2007) is the only one who showed good skills from the start. But lets put it in to perspective ,if you sign-up for the Gliders course at a Planet Ice Rink you get 30 minutes group tuition a week. So that's about 25 hours a year and most progress rather well and six months on they are at least half way through the course levels and can skate with more confidence than the celebs after 600 hours.

So the question is , do they weed out the ones that look as it they'd learn too quickly ?

I'd love to post this on the ITV forum but I'm 99.99% certain it would get deleted like most of the threads have so far. And most of the deleted ones haven't criticized or been Off Topic. I know this as I has things set up to notify of new topics and replies and it sends copies of ALL threads and replies even the ones that don't appear in the forum.

Ice's Aggie crocked

Dancing on Ice's oldest competitor, Aggie Mackenzie, has suffered a serious hamstring injury after she took a tumble during training.

The accident happened late on Thursday night as she was put through her paces for this week's opening show - and left her in floods of tears.

After practicing a turn with dance partner Sergey Malyshev, Aggie missed her footing and took a nasty fall.

Sergey became worried after Aggie, 52, failed to get up and paramedics rushed to assist.

Aggie, who was badly shaken, was moved and treated at the side of the rink, where she sobbed.

The show's physiotherapist Sharon Morris said: "Aggie's pulled her hamstring. It's a very painful injury. We're hoping she's going to be fine for the show, but it will hamper her performance."

Aggie was not the most confident of performers even before her fall.

Speaking earlier this week, she said: "I have good days and bad days and in fact the whole of last week was a bad week.

"I just feel like I'm getting worse and worse. I'm like a child, actually."

Aggie is the bookies' rank outsider to win the series.

What happened to Sarah Greene?

The last time we saw Sarah Greene on Saturday TV she had to share the screen with Gordon the Gopher.

It's been 20 years since the bubbly blonde presented kids' TV show Going Live! with Phillip Schofield and his puppet.

Tomorrow night, she's finally back on prime time TV again as she takes to the rink in a new series of Dancing On Ice.

For the woman who was tipped, together with husband Mike Smith, as the next Richard and Judy, it is a major step out of the showbusiness wilderness.

But the couple, who are credited with one of the most solid marriages in showbiz, never recovered their careers after tragedy struck in 1988 when the helicopter Smith was flying crashed.

Both of them suffered horrendous injuries and soon after the work began to dry up.

Now, it is hoped, the hit ITV show will breathe new life back into the golden girl's career - and she's taking it very seriously indeed.

Now approaching 50, Sarah has thrown herself into getting prepared for the show, and started practising on the ice well before Christmas.

A show insider said: "Sarah is very keen to do well. She's been getting ready for months and has been going to the gym to get herself into top condition.

"She feels insecure about her looks and takes great care over her make-up and costumes. She is very professional about it.

"She has been rather nervous about it and is getting stressed about performing. She knows it's her big chance and she wants to stay on for as long as possible."

This isn't the first time Sarah has been signed up to appear on the show. Last year, just weeks before the launch she pulled out citing family problems but didn't elaborate any further, and 2.4 Children actress Clare Buckfield was roped in to replace her.

Sarah must hope her meticulous preparations will give her an edge because she's going to need it. This year she has tough competition and will be looking to beat much younger celebs like Samantha Mumba and Suzanne Shaw.

The insider said: "Sarah is very prickly about her age. But she's bound to feel under pressure up against Samantha and Suzanne.

"Linda Lusardi, who is nearly the same age, looks fabulous too so that just adds to the pressure."

But if she's worried about her age Sarah certainly doesn't show it. She says she feels protective towards the other stars, especially the younger ones. "I feel motherly towards the other contestants," she says.

"I take cakes and an industrial size flask of coffee to the rink every day because everyone needs a reward."

Sarah's TV break came when she appeared on Blue Peter to promote the BBC Sunday drama The Swish Of The Curtain.

Producer Biddy Baxter was impressed by her poise in front of camera and asked her to audition for the departing Tina Heath's place on the show.

Within a fortnight Sarah was earning £110 a week as a new presenter on the programme.

The children's show not only brought her fame but also a celebrity boyfriend. While covering the London Marathon in 1981 she met blond presenter Mike Smith and they quickly became TV's golden couple.

Before the helicopter crash Sarah had made the switch to Saturday morning TV, first to Superstore with Mike Reid and then Going Live!, and her star was firmly in the ascendant.

It was a miracle the couple survived the accident, but it left Sarah with two broken legs and a broken arm. Smith, who broke his back and ankle, proposed to Sarah just weeks later.

Sarah says the crash changed her life: "After being in a life-threatening situation, there's an incredible feeling of elation.

"Then you start the hard work of rehabilitation. The physical rehab took a year but mentally it'll go on all my life."

Reports later said the accident was to blame for the couple, who married the following year, being unable to conceive a longed-for child.

But both deny any problems, with Smith saying a few years after the crash: "We're both healthy human beings and there is no reason to adopt."

However, the couple, who live near the Thames in Chiswick, London, are still childless.

Sarah went back to work, turning up at Going Live! in plaster. But by 1993 she and co-host Schofield had tired of the show and quit to return to acting.

But the parts didn't materialise and her CV for the past 10 years makes for sparse reading.

Husband Mike hasn't fared any better. In 1992 he sent in his CV to become boss of BBC1 - but didn't get an interview.

Perhaps the couple's biggest mistake was to reject offers to form a husband and wife team.

They turned down This Morning, a job which went to Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

Now Sarah's depending on her performance on the ice rink to catapult her back into the public eye. She says: "The first thing we're taught is how to fall."

But Sarah's already fallen far enough in her career. Perhaps now it's her time to shine.

For those with the correct satellite gear who might want to watch the live feed they should start looking around 30 minutes before the show is set to start and look at

5East
12303 MHz
Horizontal
Symbol rate 25546 - 25550 (exact rate depends on receiver and slight changes in their set-up but your receiver should be able to make the adjustments.)
FEC 7/8

Channel ID - OU Enterprise.

This is used for many Live ITV shows including X Factor.
