Dancing On Ice star's £60k
EXCLUSIVE Dancing On Ice javelin star's £60k Steve & Gar get more than rivals
By Adrian Butler

Dancing On Ice stars Steve Backley and Gareth Gates are skating off with fees up to THREE times higher than their rivals.

Olympic javelin silver medallist Backley will pick up £60,000 and Pop Idol runner-up Gates will get £50,000 for the ITV1 show starting next Sunday.

Their pay packets dwarf what the rest of the contestants are getting. Former Blue Peter girl Sarah Greene, 49, who co-hosted BBC Saturday hit Going Live, and ex-Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, 20, are believed to be lowest-paid on £20,000 each.

Natalie Pinkham, 29, from C4 sports show Adrenalin Rush and an ex of Prince Harry's, will get £35,000.

Former Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw, 26, and ex-Corrie actress Zaraah Abrahams, 20, are on £30,000, while GMTV's Michael Underwood is on £25,000. Suzanne dumped Darren Day after the Sunday Mirror revealed he cheated on her when she was pregnant.

An insider said: "Sarah Greene is going to be upset when she finds out how much more the others are earning. She is a household name, but a lot of the public would struggle to recognise Steve. And Gareth is best remembered for sleeping with Jordan."

Ex-Page 3 girl and Emmerdale star Linda Lusardi and another ex-Blue Peter host, Tim Vincent, are also in the show along with tennis star Greg Rusedski.

Some rivals are grumbling that Greg, 34, who played ice-hockey when growing up in Canada, has an unfair advantage. A source said: "Greg's school even had its own ice rink."

Zaraah Abrahams £30,000

MY BEAUTY SECRETS: SUZANNE SHAW

What resolutions have you made?

I’ve put on a few pounds, so I’m doing the Change One Thing programme (Boots stores or http://www.boots.com/changeonething), where they work out the right weight for your height. I’d love to trim down my thighs.

What’s your naughtiest indulgence?

Swedish massages and Elemis facials (using Marine Cream, £75). There’s nothing better on a stressful day.

What product can’t you live without?

Firming cream for my thighs. I live in hope. I’ve been using Nivea Goodbye Cellulite, £9.99, it’s pretty good.

What are your beauty comforts for winter?

You can never go wrong with Radox bubble bath, £1.39. I just wish I had time to sit in the bubbles.

What will you be cutting down on this year?

Spending on skincare. I used to buy lots of Clarins, but I’ve started using No7 and it’s great. I love the Uplifting Eye Cream, £15.25, now I’m starting to see wrinkles. I’m only 26, but I’ve had a tough time.

What’s your worst beauty crime?

I let everything go in winter. I’ve got a photoshoot today, so yesterday I shaved my legs for literally the first time in two weeks. Really bad. I’m like a German.

No Defrosted ??
Can't see mention of it on the DOI website. That has been a major part of the show. Those with digital had a whole evening of skating related programming.

The names of the plucky celebrities taking part in this year’s Dancing On Ice have been revealed. And we’re pretty excited about seeing some of them gliding across the ice in their spandex and sequined outfits (hello, Chris Fountain) when the show starts on ITV1 this Sunday at 5.50pm. So… the full list of contestants is:
Javelin champion Steve Backley, Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, pop star Gareth Gates, TV presenter Sarah Greene, Emmerdale actress Linda Lusardi, TV presenter and cleaning guru Aggie Mackenzie, singer Samantha Mumba, TV presenter Natalie Pinkham, tennis star Greg Rusedski, singer and actress Suzanne Shaw, GMTV reporter Michael Underwood, and TV presenter Tim Vincent.

What do you make of that lot then?

Looks an interesting line-up.
Though Greg could be the new Barryman if he get's too cocky with his skating the public won't bother voting like last time when Barryman was the surprise looser.

I also heard that in a piece on GMT this morning that jumps are going to be incorporated into the routines.
Though it'll cease to be 'Ice-Dance' if they do but rather traditional figure skating.

Actually that would be interesting if at some point during the series they got them to do figures. This was Robin Cousin's weak point which often let him down.
Figures involves tracing large figures of 8s in the ice which I think you have to go over the same trace 2 or 3 times. The closest you keep to the original trace the more points you got. The second set of figures is more complicated with extra turns added.
But figures have been dropped for competition these days. It would be interesting to see if any of them could manage it. Though I think I would be too difficult a task.

After last year they have some very high standards to meet.

My satellite dish will be sitting at 5East every Sunday to record the direct live feed again (OU Enterprises).

Wish it was still on Saturday as the Sunday time slot is one that can easily be missed. Saturday nights with the main program and Defrosted running back-to-back has worked perfectly well in the past so I don't know how well this new format will pan out but it won't long before we find out.

One note though. Someone posted a comment about the lack of Defrosted on the ITV forum and it got deleted ?! It was a new thread asking if it was true that Defrosted wasn't returning ,in a polite way. The email was sent saying the thread had been started but the thread was removed ! I can't see any reason why they would do this. I have added a comment in another thread that there's no sign of Defrosted and so far the comment hasn't been removed.

Can't wait to see what appears this year in their forum after the way people got carried away last year with at least a couple of the contestants. But the long delays whilst the posts are moderated before they appear will continue to put people off.
