Simon Cowell grovels to Kelly Brook after Britain’s Got Talent

By Mark Jefferies and Maggie Barry
Simon Cowell phoned tearful Kelly Brook to offer a grovelling apology after kicking her off Britain’s Got Talent.

And he offered the 29-year-old actress a job on his spin-off show to make up for it.

Yesterday smiling Kelly ventured out in public for the first time since her shock dismissal – putting on a brave face as she headed for talks with her manager.

An onlooker said: “Kelly seemed to have got over the news and didn’t look like she had a care in the world.

“Simon must have done something to cheer her up.”

Cowell, 49, revealed he had phoned Kelly to console her after she was sacked just six days into her role as a judge.

Speaking as he prepared to attend Britain’s Got Talent auditions, he said: “I have spoken to Kelly on the phone and apologised.

“She was very pragmatic and very professional about it, although obviously a bit sad about no longer being a judge.

“I am sure she had shed a couple of tears but she’s a tough little cookie.”

Cowell said he has created a new role for Kelly, a former host of Celebrity Love Island, on the ITV2 spin-off show Britain’s Got More Talent.

It looks behind the scenes of the main show and is hosted by ex-children’s TV presenter Stephen Mulhern.

If she accepts, Kelly is likely to work alongside Stephen and become a roving reporter – bringing a touch of sex appeal in the same way Holly Willoughby does in X Factor spin-off The Xtra Factor.

Cowell said: “I’ve offered Kelly a part on my ITV2 show. I actually liked her – she was good, she was fine.

“The problem was not her. Britain’s Got Talent just doesn’t work with four people.

“She is a warm person, who looks great and is very enthusiastic and that is why I spoke to her about the ITV2 show. I hope she’ll accept.”

Cowell joined his fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan in Glasgow yesterday for the second round of auditions.

Hosts Ant and Dec, who were said to be shocked at Kelly’s appointment as a judge, joined them as they whittled down the numbers of would-be stars.

Amanda refused to comment on the departure of Kelly, who was seen by many as her rival on the judging panel.

But Piers said: “It was such a shame. She is a lovely girl.

“Every time she burst into tears I had to comfort her. It was the best part of my day.”

The Mirror yesterday revealed Kelly was paid her full £200,000 fee for six days work on Britain’s Got Talent.

Simon Cowell made Birmingham youngster's day

HE’S the acid-tongued king of Saturday night TV – but Simon Cowell showed his softer side when he brightened the day of a young fan in Birmingham.

Little Lee Fray had the treat of his life when he managed to meet his idol and also have a front row seat at the Britain’s Got Talent auditions.
