Henman faces Srichaphan challenge
Quote:
Tim Henman will be confident ahead of his quarter-final clash with Paradorn Srichaphan at the Thailand Open.
The British number two has a 6-1 record against the eighth seed, who will have the vociferous backing of his home crowd at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
Both have struggled in recent seasons, with Henman, 32, down to 59th in the world from a high of fourth in 2002.
Srichaphan, 27, is currently ranked 41st, down from a 2003 high of ninth, but has reached two semis this season.
Henman reached the last eight with two wins over fellow Britons.
He upset fourth seed Andy Murray in the first round, having lost his three previous encounters against the young Scot.
Henman then had a tougher match against Alex Bogdanovic, currently ranked 148th in the world, but came through in three sets.
Srichaphan began his latest Thailand Open campaign with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Feliciano Lopez - his first in four attempts against the Spaniard.
Like Henman, he then had a harder time against a lower-ranked opponent, seeing off Russian qualifier Mikhail Ledovskikh 6-4 5-7 6-2.
