They have been put off by the sky-high cost of watching their team and are sick of the players’ mammoth wages.
Their feelings are in sharp contrast to the delight shown by supporters over England ace David Beckham winning his 100th cap on Wednesday.
But a season-long poll of fans has laid bare the shocking opinion of the British game among diehards.
And it suggests many are close to calling it a day with big-name teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool because they think the clubs have become money-obsessed and have forgotten the fans.
